Phoebe's POV

"Run!" Luke yelled from behind us, both him and Annie breaking past us and running on.

I turned backwards and heard the car engines, before I could even react, Michael was pulling me forward and we were running behind the group.

The trees seemed to be never ending. Everytime we would get to a clearing, more and more trees stood in front of us.

"Luke do you know where we're going?" Ashton yelled, and Luke slowed ever so slightly to turn and pointed in front of us.

Squinting my eyes, I could see what he was pointing to. In the distance, through the trees, I could see the neon sign of the gas station within our view.

We sped up and I tripped, falling down. Michael did not miss a beat, and pulled me off the ground quickly, intertwining our hands as we started to run again.

The track in the wood sloped slightly as we ran out onto the concrete road. Luke was first to reach the doors of the gas station pulling them open and making sure we all got inside.

Once inside, a very confused looking teenage boy was sitting behind the counter reading a magazine.

He stood up, looking at the five of us. I then looked at the five of us as well, in the light we looked awful.

All five of us were covered in dirt and blood, our suits and dresses torn and filthy.

"What the fuck?" He said, and I ran to him, while the boys started to lock the doors and push barricades up against them.

"Please," I said to the boy, "go, lock yourself in an office or a store, and call the police, tell them to come here. People are after us, and they are coming here now. If they see you, they'll kill you."

The boy looked to me, with wide eyes, then to my friends who were busy trying to put anything they could find against the door.

"Do they shutters work?" Michael yelled to him, and the boy shook his head.

"They haven't worked in months." He said quietly, his face losing colour with every passing second.

"Call the police. Lock yourself in." I said, pointing towards the store office. He ran over to the door, slamming it shut and I could hear the click of the lock.

Ashton ran past me to behind the counter and turned off the shop lights, making the store dim, the dawn light pouring in from outside.

"Shit." Annie said, and I looked out the window to see the armoured cars pull up.

"Everybody get down, and stay hidden." Luke said, disappearing down one of the aisles, Annie following him.

Michael ran up to me, and pulled me behind an aisle, and crouching down. He took my face between his hands, lowering his head down, our foreheads touching.

"I love you." He whispered, and I smiled sadly, leaning in and kissing him.

"I love you too." I whispered, and I heard a crash from the glass doors at the front of the store.

The shattered glass crunched underneath their heavy boots as they entered the store. I gripped Michael's hand tightly, and I bent my knees up to my chest, trying to make myself smaller.

There was a pop up stand hiding me and Michael, and I watched as he raised his head above it, trying to locate Alex and his men.

"Shit," Michael breathed out, and I was able to see through a crack between the stand and the aisle, why.
