Annie's POV
I had ran through these woods for the past few hours. Or at least it felt like hours.
I stopped, throwing my weight up against a tree, trying to catch my breath.
"Oh my god." I breathed out, trying to control my breathing and forcing my legs to stay upwards. If I fell down, I might not be able to get back up again.
It was a miracle I was still alive.
I sat, trying to catch my breath, when I heard something. It was the sound of running feet.
But I didn't run.
The feet where running to fast to be chasing me. The guy who was after me was almost purposely losing me so he could pursue me further.
"Help! God! Please someone help us!" I heard a voice yell. I peeked out from behind my hiding spot and I saw a couple running past the tree.
The guy stopped dead and yelled for help again, keeping his girlfriend close to him, who was hysterically crying into his chest.
Then a gunshot echoed through the trees and the boy screamed out in pain.
"No! No! Jase, no!" The girl screamed. She dropped to her knees and then I saw someone step out from behind the trees. I put my hand over my mouth as I saw it was the guy who had been pursuing me for all this time.
"Why are you doing this?! He's dead!" The girl screamed and I watched him as he loaded a bullet into his gun and aimed it at the girl.
"Bye." He said with a smirk and shot her.
I had to bite down on my tounge to try and stop the scream that was in my throat.
I stared at the two dead bodies and took a step backwards, feeling my eyes and nose starting to sting with tears.
But I stepped right on a branch, and it made a deafening snap in the silence of the woods.
The guy spun around on his heel and aimed his gun straight at me. In defence, I raised my hands in the air and the guy slowly smiled at me.
"Well, if it isn't the girl I have been looking for?" He said and I swallowed, feeling bile rise in my throat.
He was going to kill me.
This is how I am going to die.
"You move, sweetheart and I shoot. Got it?" He said and I nodded and he took a few steps towards me and I forced my feet to stay where they were and not move backwards.
"Please don't hurt me." I whispered and he took another step towards me. I closed my eyes as I heard his feet crunch on the ground again and then I opened him and I saw he was no longer in front of me.
That was when I felt his large hand wrap around my neck and I gasped, my hands flew up and tried to pry his grip away from my neck.
"I'm not going to kill you just yet. We have until sunrise." He whispered roughly in my ear.
Sunrise?
What was he talking about?
He twisted my arm up high above my back and I whimpered in pain and he started to push me back through the forest.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked and he laughed in my ear.
"Your friends are quite the handful. Most of the guests are dead, but they are all still alive." He said and I felt my heart beat faster.
My friends were still alive?
That meant...
Calum.
