Luke's POV
"What are we going to do?" Calum decided to break the silence first.
I had no idea where they had taken us. After they had taken Annie in the main lobby, a bag was thrown over my head and wasn't taken off until we were in the room we are in now. I glanced around at the surrounding again. The room was obviously used to keep people prisoner.
No windows, no ventilation shafts, just an empty room and one door which locked from the outside.
I sighed, looking down at my hands and ankles which were bound by zip ties.
"I don't know, Calum." I breathed out, feeling the familiar burning nip the bottom of my eyelids, as tears were threatening to overflow.
"We never should have came here." I whispered, not looking up at either Ashton or Calum.
"I knew there was something up from the moment we got the invitations... and when we got here. I'm sorry guys, I really should have tried harder to convince us to leave. Maybe we could have got out, maybe, Grace and Daisy..." I didn't finish my sentence, stopping as the tears that were flowing down my cheeks were starting to choke me.
"Luke, none of us knew what was going to happen." Ashton spoke for the first time since we had been captured. I looked over to him, and he shook his head.
"I don't want you to blame yourself, it's a guilt you don't deserve..." he finished, and I shook my head, trying to wipe my face on my sleeve.
"What do you suppose is going to happen to us?" Ashton asked, and I looked from him to Calum.
"I have no idea, if we are here because they want Michael and Phoebe, they won't kill us - but once they get them..." I trailed off, as I heard the lock turned on the door of the room.
The door opened, and entered a man and a woman dressed very formally. It then hit me that they were the same people who were in the stage in the dining hall before everything went to shit.
"Well it seems this is the pickings this year." The woman said, coming in and looking at each one of us.
"Excuse me?" Calum asked and she turned, smiling to him. She eyed up the wound in her shoulder, and made a tutting noise with her tongue.
"Oh sweetheart, caught in the firing line?" She questioned, and Calum remained silent.
The man straightened down the front of his suit, and cleared his throat.
"We're David and Jeanette Fulton, Lord and Lady of the Fulton Manor... I'm sure you know what really goes on here." He said, but again, we all stayed silent.
"What you don't know though, is how we conduct affairs once The Chase is over." He said, and I straightened up.
"As you are well aware, there are many young men that work for us, if any of our guests survive the night, we pick a few to work for us, play The Chase each year, in return you keep your life." He said, looking to each of us.
I let my breath out of my body and sat back, everything suddenly piecing together.
"So what's in it for us?" I spoke up, and David and Jeanette looked at each other, smiling. They took turns, looking from each of us, and Jeanette whispered something inaudible into her husbands ear.
"Well, we have no use for anyone who is injured... sorry sweetheart," she said, turning to Calum. I felt my breath catch in my throat, and she turned back to us, "of course, Alex asked us not to harm any of you, until we find his girlfriend, so we will keep our promise."
