Michael's POV
The lights had shut off completely in the bathroom where Phoebe and I had been and now the door had locked.
"Why is the door locked?" I asked Phoebe and she shook her head. I threw my weight up against the door, trying to break it down, but it felt like behind the wood, there was metal or something as hard as it.
"I can't break the lock." I said and I felt my breath start to accelerate and then I felt Phoebe's hand touch my arm.
"We're okay, someone will come and get us out..." Phoebe started to say and I cut her off.
"You don't understand. Something bad is happening here, Phoebe. I can't explain or I don't know what it is... but this is bad." I said, and she raised her eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" She asked quietly and I slid my back down the locked door.
"Party guests have been disappearing, Annie has gone missing, the staff here are nearly too helpful... it's all a little odd... and why is there automatic locking doors in the bathrooms? It just doesn't even add up." I said, and Phoebe kneeled down beside me.
"So... do you think something is going to happen to us?" She asked and I found my gaze being locked with her. Her blue eyes were starting to fill with fear and I stood up, grabbing her hand and pulling her up with me.
"No." I said, reaching up, taking her face in my hands. My thumbs caressed the soft skin of her cheeks and I sighed out, resting my forehead on hers.
"I'm not going to let anything happen to us." I whispered and I felt Phoebe's arms snake around my waist and I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tightly.
That's when I heard someone outside the door. I saw the shadow of feet underneath the door and then I heard them speak.
"Is anyone in there?" The voice said.
It sounded perfectly normal... friendly... non - threatening...
So why were alarm bells ringing loudly in my ears?
I quickly covered Phoebe's mouth as she was about to answer, and pulled her away from the door. I placed a finger to my lips, telling her to be quiet and she nodded, so I took my hand away from her mouth.
"What are you doing?" She whispered to me and I stared at the feet that were still at the other side of the door.
"How many are in there?" A voice said and there was a slight pause before another voice answered.
"There's two."
Both voices were definitely male.
"And is one of them her?" One asked and I looked at Phoebe and her face had started to turn pale. She grabbed onto my arm and moved her mouth close to my ear.
"One of the voices is Alex." She said and I swallowed.
What the fuck?
"Do you know who the other voice is?" I asked her and she shook her head. I moved myself in front of her and I felt her hands bunch up the back of my jacket.
"Let me just go in... this won't take too long. It's only her I want." I heard the voice that Phoebe said was Alex speak and I felt my stomach drop.
I heard the door open and the person who must have been Alex came into the room and switched on the lights. I had to close my eyes briefly, the bright lights stinging my eyes.
