Phoebe's POV

What the fuck is going on?

My mind kept screaming this phrase over and over again, as a Michael gripped my hand tightly, moving through the dense trees.

"Where we going?" I whispered, scared to make my voice any louder.

Michael stopped, turned around and resting against a tree.

"I don't know... possibly to find the others?" He said, blinking and I saw tears rim the bottom of his eyes, "if they're even still all alive."

He pressed his hands up to his eyes, and a choked sob escaped his lips, his knees giving out and sliding down the tree. I approached him and sat down beside him, resting my head against his shoulder, feeling the tears squeeze themselves from my closed eyes.

We sat in the silence for a few moments, letting ourselves fill with sadness. Michael cleared his throat, and wiped his hands over his damp face.

"I'm so scared," He whispered and I nodded, wrapping my arms around his stomach, feeling his arm snake over my shoulders, his chin resting on top of my head.

"Michael, if we survive to the morning..." I said but Michael shook his head.

"You really think they'll just let us all go?" He whispered and I looked down, knowing that he was right.

"Grace and Daisy are dead... what about the others." I said, not wanting to hear an answer.

Michael looked ahead of him, then started to nod his head.

"Calum is fast, Annie is smart, she would have known to go and hide, maybe find Luke and Ashton... I don't know, Phoebe, this is like a horror movie." He said, and I nodded.

We had to think strategically. I started looking around the surrounding area we were in, and saw a metal fence, that was enclosing the estate.

"Michael, we are at the edge of the estate." I said, looking back to Michael, and he got up, following me.

A few short steps took me to the clearing where the fence was.

"So, we climb?" Michael whispered, looking at me, "it cannot be that easy."

I glanced down at the ground, and picked up a rock, throwing it at the metal. As soon as the rock connected to the metal, there was a loud bang, as orange sparks flew from it.

Letting my breath out slowly, I looked at Michael who blinked, a tear falling down his cheek, which he quickly wiped away.

"Knew it would be too easy." He said, quietly. His head snapped up at the sound of footsteps approaching, and we started to run, Michael keeping his hand on the small of my back.

We ducked down behind some bushes, peering out as the men approached where we had just set off the fence, and I saw one of them was Alex.

"Shit," I breathed out, and my mind whirled through possibilities, that we could try to get out of this hell.

"The garage." I whispered quietly to Michael, as he was staring at Alex through the hedge.

"What?" He mouthed at me. His eyes widened as he covered my mouth with his hands, as I heard footsteps approaching our hiding spot.

Michael tucked his legs up as the flashlight beams started to shine over the top of the bush, and I did the same.

I held my breath and shut my eyes tight, and the flashlight seemed to linger there for what felt like a lifetime.

Then, it retreated, Michael uncovered my mouth and I heard Alex speak up.

"Where are they?" He shouted at the men who were with him.

There was a silence until one spoke up.

"They can't be too far away, boss. The fence was only just set off a few minutes ago."

"Fine." He said, and I heard footsteps start to approach our hiding spot again.

"We'll go down this hill, and head towards the denser forest - with their friends still alive, that's probably where they are headed." He said, and my heart jumped into my throat.

Luke, Ashton, Calum and Annie where still alive.

"We'll split up into twos once we start on the path, if you find Phoebe and Michael first, I want them both alive." He said, and I felt a bead of sweat roll down my forehead.

"You not want the boy dead?" Another man asked and I heard Alex let out a short laugh.

"No, he's my kill."

"Fuck," I heard Michael breathe out, and his eyes widened and I turned to see why.

The footsteps then started to move closer and Michael grabbed my hand, getting onto the balls of his feet, and I copied him.

I looked behind me, and nearly yelped when I saw Alex and his men, walking past us, and Michael pulled my hand, and we quickly got to the other side of the hedge, Michael stopping and turning back to me with a finger on his lips.

"You hear something?" One of the men said, and I shut my eyes, praying for them to walk on.

"We don't have time for this." Alex said, "let's find them."

Michael and I both stayed quiet until we saw them completely vanish from sight.

I wrapped my arms around Michael, letting my breath out shakily, as he placed a kiss on top of my forehead.

"What were you saying about the garage?" Michael said, and I looked up at him.

"The cars... some of them still work, we get one, drive out of here... ram the main gates if we have to, we can't let them get us." I said, and Michael pressed his lips into a tight line and then nodded.

"But," He said, looking into the forest, "we need to find the others first,"

I nodded, and he took the gun out of his pocket, keeping it in his hand, taking mine in the other.

"Stay close to me," He said, bending down, our foreheads touching and he bent down, our lips connecting.

"Let's go find our friends." He mumbled against my lips. He pulled back, and there was something new that was glistening in his eyes.

He looked hopeful.

"And let's get out of this fucking place."
