Chapter 37

I VIKRAM I

I wake up from my power nap when my hands search for Meera but come back empty. I shoot up in my bed and almost think it was all a dream but her clothes on the floor lets me know all of it happened.

I look around the room and find her nowhere. But the bed is still warm, so I know it hasn't been that long since she left the room. I get out of the bed and put my boxers on before entering the hallway. The clock on the hall says it's 9.30 pm. I turn around the hallway and hear Meera's voice.

"I'm really sorry, Shraddha. I was helping Diya on her project and we lost track of time. So she asked me to stay. I'm sorry but my phone was on silent so I didn't see your call", she says.

She's standing next to the kitchen counter in nothing but my tshirt. I know this because her bra and panties were still in my room. Her hair is tied on top of her head in a messy bun, leaving her slender neck bare. I try not to make any noise as I move towards her. But she turns to look when I make a small noise and almost jumps out of her skin when she sees me.

She glares at me and I give her my best innocent face. Her eyes roam all over my body and she quickly turns back, hiding her flushed cheeks from me.

"No that's okay. No need to trouble him. Diya said I could stay in her room. Her roommate went home for the weekend, so her bed is free", she speaks into the phone.

I stop behind her and wrap my hands around her, placing my head on her shoulder. She smiles as she glances at me out of the corner of her eye. But her smile turns into a glare when I tug her sleeve down and start peppering kisses across her neck and shoulder. She tries to shrug me off but I'm like a sticky gum, refusing to let go as I continue kissing her skin.

She places a hand on the speaker and hisses at me, "stop it! I'm on the phone with my sister."

I nod but goes back to kissing her. She elbows me in my ribs but I move back just in time.

"Yeah. I'll call you tomorrow. And please tell Karthik, I'm sorry for worrying him. It won't happen again", she says and a moment later she hangs up before placing her phone on the kitchen counter.

"You couldn't wait until I got off the phone with my sister?", she asks as she turns around in my arms. I place my hand on her hips as I lift her up and place her on the kitchen counter.

"Nope", I simply state as I stand between her legs. She wraps her arms around my neck and I wrap mine around her waist.

"I forgot to let them know I won't be home", she says and I frown a little.

I forgot that she came straight from college to my apartment.

I hate that she had to lie to her sister and brother-in-law, who also happens to be my friends, about us. I want to tell Karthi and Shraddha about us but I know Meera's not ready for it.

Her face suddenly changes and a look of uncertainty enters her face. "Unless... You don't want me to stay over?", She asks hesitantly.

Does she seriously think I'll let her leave this apartment tonight? She doesn't really know me if she thinks that.

"Do you really think I'll let you go now that I have you where I want you? And the night's only getting started. I'm ready for round five", I tell her, wagging my eyebrows suggestively.
