Chapter Eleven
Fangtasia
Reine sat quietly in the back of her sister's car as they drove down the road. She still couldn't believe she had let Sookie talk her into this. "Penny for your thoughts." Rae heard her sister say.
"I thought you liked not knowing my thoughts." Bill replied with a smirk.
"Most of the time I do." Sookie answered.
Rae rolled her eyes at the back and forth between the two. She could tell Sookie had a thing for Bill. It was written all over her face and everyone could see it. She was pretty sure no matter how much Sook denied it, that she considered this to be a date. "Bill," Reine piped up from the backseat. "If you don't tell her what you're thinking, she won't let this go."
Bill looked over at Sookie for a moment before looking into the rear-view mirror at Reine. "You both look like vampire bait."
Sookie started laughing when she heard Bill's answer. Meanwhile, Reine didn't even crack a smile. She wasn't particularly fond of looking like 'vampire bait. "What's that supposed to mean?" Sook finally asked.
"What do you think it means, Sookie?" Reine shot the question at her sister.
"I promised your grandmother no harm would come to either of you at Fangtasia tonight. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to keep that promise with you both dressed like that." Bill explained to Sookie.
"So are you saying you think I look nice?"
Reine laid her head on the back seat as she rolled her eyes for a second time that night. Sookie was missing the whole point. Did she think this was going to be some fun, magical outing where she, Sook, and Bill all bonded and became besties? "Doesn't matter what I think. This isn't a date, remember?" Bill said, grabbing Rae's attention. After his words filled the small car the three fell silent until they reached Fangtasia.
As they pulled into the parking lot Rae looked over the building. It didn't look very impressive from the outside, but considering how long the line was to get in, she assumed that there had to be something badass inside. "How are you going to get me inside? I'm underage."
"I'll talk to the bouncer." Bill told the girl as he turned off the car and handed the keys over to Sookie.
"I'm sure this will go well..." Rae said under her breath as she got out of the car. The three made their way to the back of the line and waited patiently for their turn to be accepted into the club. Once they finally reached the front of the line, the bouncer looked over the two young women with a raised brow. His cold gaze eventually landed on Reine. His eyes ran over her body, studying her before he shook his head and pointed with his thumb to the parking lot.
"We're looking for someone," Bill began. "This young woman is here to help us. If you would let us in it would be much appreciated."
The man let a grunt leave his lips. "She looks too young."
"She just turned twenty-one." Bill informed the man. "You know humans these days. They look younger than they actually are."
The bouncer looked down at the girl once more. He was silent for a moment before eventually stepping aside and allowing them to go inside. The three hurried inside before the man changed his mind. Bill thought they were in the clear but when they ran into Pam De Beaufort. "Bill. Haven't seen you in a while." The woman greeted.
Rein carefully watched the woman. She was beautiful. She wore her long hair pulled back, and she wore a black bustier and a lovely necklace to finish off the ensemble. "I'm mainstreamin'." Bill replied.
