« You are nothing else but a freak! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW! »

The half-empty glass bottle of alcohol was thrown through the kitchen, crashing right next to Tam's feet, exploding, spreading pieces of broken glass on the floor.

« Ma! » The young man, who dodged the projectile making him almost lose his balance, was startled by the gesture. But not by the situation.

Walking towards his mother, his heart pounding heavily in his chest, he opened his arms in a desperate attempt to hug her, to calm her down.

But her hand lifted, hitting her son's shoulder multiple times fiercely, tears falling down her cheeks.

« My only son... Why? Why! » Her hands, grabbing the side of her son's face in a unexpected movement of tenderness, slowly started to brush his cheek. But suddenly started to slap, her jaws clenching, looking at him with nothing more than anger and disappointment.

« Ma! Calm down! » The young man tried to seize his mother's hand. His juvenile face imprinted with red marks; his young heart shattered once again.

« Freak! Freak! What did I do to you?! Why are you doing this to me ?! » The woman slowly slipped on the floor, her legs failing, under the suffering gaze of the one she used to admire so much.

Kneeling in front of her son's feet, she grabbed his legs in an embrace, leaning her head on his thigh, her face deformed by the cries.

« Ma...Ma I'm sorry. » Tam's eyes filled with shame and sorrows, trying to hold back the tears that were appearing in the corner of his eyes.

Trying to understand why the person he loves the most, the person who carried him into her womb, didn't find the strength to accept him for who he was.

Looking afar in front of him, hearing his mother crying in pain, too young to understand that one day, she will forgive him. Even if there is nothing to be forgiven for.

His fragile and sad gaze staring at the young man standing a few feet away, by the half-opened door, watching the scene. His fists clenched, a compassionate look on his face, trying hard not to intervene, as Tam asked him to.

This was not the first time that Pete witnessed Tam's mother burst of anger.

Unable to accept the fact that her only son was gay, her sadness would often burst into rage, pouring out on the young man every time she was inebriated.

Leaving Tam with nothing else than a broken heart and a terrible feeling of guilt.

-A couple days later-

The rainy season had start during one of the hottest months of the year. The two young boys were walking their way back from high school, struggling, sweating and out of breath.

« So, you are not going? »

« No, it's too dangerous my grandparents won't let me. »

The Thai police protest burning the city of Bangkok made Pete cancelled his trip at the last minute.

Leaving Tam with a strange feeling of content. Not that he was happy to see his friend disappointed but it was a relief for him to know that he didn't have to spend the weekend alone with his mother.

« So, it means that I can sleep at your house tonight? »

« You still need to ask? » answered Pete visibly annoyed by the heat, trying to dry the drop of sweat on his forehead.

It was not unusual for the two teenagers to spend the night together. Since they were 10, Tam often crashed at Pete's place. Sometimes it was Pete who slept at Tam's house but only when his mother was out of town.
