Knock knock

"Pete? Pete, open the door."

I was about to knock again but the door suddenly opened. Pete stood there looking at me with a jaded face.

I was about to start talking when he turned around and walked towards the bed. He let himself fall on it, his face buried in the pillow, his arms along his body.

I chuckled and shook my head seeing him acting like a sulking teenager. I entered and went sitting beside him, closing the door behind me.

I looked at him lying there completely immobile and silent.

I smiled and gently stroke his hair, my hand slowly travelling down his nape. His face still hiding in the pillow, he let out a sight that I felt was a sigh of content.

"So, you think I'm a whore?" I asked still gently tickling the back of his head.

"Hmmm"

I sneered; he didn't even try to deny it. I gently pinched his ear making him hit my hand, mumbling something I couldn't understand. But, knowing Pete, I'm pretty sure he was cursing me.

"And what made you think that?"

Pete slowly turned his head, and I could finally see his face.

His cheek squished against the mattress, his hair all over his forehead. His eyes were staring into space. I gently stroke his cheeks, looking at him, lost in his thoughts.

"It must feel good to attract all eyes on you"

Pete voice was soft and calm but there was something in his tone that felt like he was talking to himself. I titled my head trying to capture his gaze.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean... I saw it. Before we even were a couple. Every time you walked into a room everybody was like under a spell or something. Men, women...Everybody. It's freaking annoying."

I chuckled again. The resentment in his voice was barely hidden and I could feel he was pissed.

"Does it mean you're... Jealous?"

I slowly leaned to mumble my nose against his cheek, but Pete pushed me away, pressing his hand in the middle of my face, rolling back his eyes.

"Tsss, not at all! It means I envy you."

"Why? Do you want people to look at you and flirt with you? I fucking don't like this idea."

"No, not like that. Just...not being invisible."

My eyes frowned, confused. The sad tone of his voice made me feel a pinch in my heart.

He straightened and sat on the bed, I slowly grabbed his hand and kiss it, holding it tight against me.

"You never were invisible. You have no idea how you have the power to illuminate a room as soon as you walk in. And I noticed it way before we were a couple too."

Pete lifted his gaze, startled.

"Really? You noticed me before?" His sad look slowly turned into a surprised gaze looking at me expectantly.

I nodded, looking at his hand, slowly stroking his palm with my thumb.

"The day you came here with Porsche. I don't really know why but when we bumped into each other in the hallway I felt something weird like...I don't know. It felt like I already knew this feeling. Talking to you, looking into your eyes, even your scent seemed familiar. I thought "Damn! that guy fear nothing. It's hot"."
