-Pete-

The shadow was there, moving above me once again but vanished as soon as my hand tried to reach it.

Pete...

A voice was calling behind me.

I drifted into darkness.
But I kept searching.

Pete...

The voice again.

Vegas? Is the unruly shadow chasing me...Vegas?

I called his name.

Pete, I'm here.

I could feel he was up there somewhere. But it was too dark. I was so cold.

« How loud do you want to cry, Pete? »

I turned around following the sound of a different voice. I saw the shadow once again and run towards it as fast as I could. But it disappeared. Once more.

Pete, right here.

« STOP HIDDING FROM ME! »

I screamed, letting out all the incandescent air stuck in my lungs, burning my throat.

Pete!

The voice again calling my name made me turn around, enraged.

But I suddenly found myself in front of the shadow for the first time. I was petrified. The shadow lunged from the darkness and grabbed my hair, my head swung back violently.

Pete!

The shadow moved closer to me at an incredible speed, grasping tightly my hair between its slender and bony fingers. Unrelenting, unforgiving.

« SHOW ME YOUR FACE! » I roared, the tears falling along my cheeks. In pain. Suffocating.

I fought with all my might. But my desperate attempts were passing through it, vanishing. I was hitting the air around me. Nothing happened and still the shadow kept pulling on my hair making me fall on my knees.

It was sucking the life out of me. It was trying to erase me.

I prayed. Reciting mantras relentlessy.

Pete! Stop!

The voice was calling over and over again, but I couldn't see from where it came from. My tears became unstoppable sobs of rage.

« I'm not afraid of you. You hear me!? I'M NOT AFFRAID! You are not real. YOU ARE NOT REAL! »

But the shadow laughed. It leaned more towards me and raised its hand, showing me its palm.

« I've come to collect every piece of your soul you left behind Pete... »

Pete, my love wake up!

My eyes opened suddenly; the light dazzled me. I was gasping for air, my lungs burning. I was covered in sweat; the tears were falling nonstop along my cheeks but this time I wasn't alone.

I shifted my gaze quickly to look beside the bed where I was lying. He was there, sat on the edge, holding my hand tightly, his eyebrows knitted together. Pale, tears in the corner of his eyes.

« V-Vegas... »

« Pete! »

Vegas pulled me into a tight hug, his hand pressing the back of my head strongly against him. I buried my head in his neck, wrapping my arms around his waist.

« Please, don't let go... » I whispered.

Vegas tighten his embrace as I felt his warm tears flowing on my skin, his breath heavy, his hands pressing strongly against my back.
