« Don't! »

Pete fiercely pushed my hand away as I tried to reach for him, but he was too enraged. Despite my attempts to reason with him, he refused to talk to me when we got back home.

« Pete...I'm sorry. Let me explain » I pleaded, trying to grab his hand.

« There's nothing to explain, it's perfectly clear. You are still following me after all we talked about. Even after what I said to you earlier?! I'm done. I'm freaking done. I'm tired. I'm going to sleep. »

Pete threw the bag of errands at me and stormed off towards the stairs, carrying a box wrapped in blue fabric. I frowned wondering what it was, but Pete disappeared in the stairs.

I was left standing in the hallway, feeling defeated and frustrated. I sighed, watching him climb the stairs, each step producing a loud thud.

Pete was mad. And I couldn't blame him. I felt guilty for hurting him, yes. But deep inside, I knew I was right following him. The fact that one of Takahara's man was in fact watching Pete's moves proved it. I wasn't completely crazy, I wasn't overreacting.

« Hum, Khun Vegas? Are you okay? »

I turned to see Lek concerned expression. I sighed heavily and nodded, running my fingers over my face in exhaustion.

« I'm okay » I replied, though the heaviness in my voice betrayed my emotions « I just...I screwed up huh? »

And at the same time as I pronounced those words, we both heard the loud sound of a door slamming coming from upstairs. Yes, we are definitely not watching that movie tonight.

« Don't give up, Khun Vegas. I think he is waiting for you to go see him. Khun Pete has a good heart, and he loves you very much. He will listen to you eventually » Lek reassured me.

Feeling a mix of hope and uncertainty, I looked at Lek and chuckled.

« Since when are you so on point about couple issues? »

"Since my parents' divorce, Khun Vegas. I know what to do and what not to do. I will take care of Nong Venice tonight. You can go talk to Khun Pete" Lek replied confidently.

« Yeah...Thanks. And Lek, wait. About...You know, how did it go...? »

« About Khun Macau? It went well, Khun Vegas. Don't worry about it » Lek said, trying to reassure me.

« Well for me or for Macau? »

« For both of you Khun Vegas »

« I'm pretty sure I'm not going to like this... »

« I can't say, Khun Vegas. The only thing I know is that Khun Macau cares about you very much. And you two need to talk, Khun Vegas. I know you know it. »

I sighed again, feeling lost and conflicted. I knew Lek was right, but I was too stubborn and proud to admit it. I didn't want to deal with my brother's crazy girlfriend and their child. However, I also realized that if I wanted to keep an eye on her, I had to try to work things out with Macau, even if I didn't want to see his face.

It was all too overwhelming for me at the moment. And above all, I'm tired of dealing with everyone carelessness. It just feels like I'm fucking crazy, and everyone thinks I'm paranoid. But I'm not. I'm only distrustful as everyone should.

« And one more thing. What about that bitc...Emi? Did you see or feel something off with her? »

« She seems to like Khun Pete very much, Khun Vegas. And Khun Macau seemed happy in her presence.» Lek replied.
