TW: Blood
There are some nights, some nights when the sun finally sets, when the city gets busy with those who decided to prolong the night laughing and drinking. Lovers, friends, strangers seaking the warmth and somewhat comforting atmosphere of a late summer night.
But also those nights when you can't wait to come home. When you eagerly anticipate reuniting with those you've left behind, even if only for a few hours. Coming back to the warmth and familiar scent of your home.
And that night was one of those nights for Pete. As he settled into the passenger seat of his car after putting a way too drunk to walk Porsche into Kinn's car, who Pete called and wait for, knowing perfectly his friend would prefer a ride with his lover than in a cab.
When Lek began to drive, Pete thoughts were solely focused on one thing: kissing his son goodnight, even if he would probably already be asleep, gently patting his soft hair before laying down in bed next to his fiancé.
Engaging in a little conversation about his evening with Porsche, discussing what Vegas ate - or if he ate at all - playfully scolding him if he hadn't. Perhaps stealing one or two kisses that would eventually escalate into something more than just innocent pecks.
Loosing himself once again in Vegas warmth, his scent, his touch, his eyes looking at him with nothing else than love and admiration. And drifting off to sleep, dreaming of him. Of them. Of their family and what the future holds.
And as Pete's head slowly leaned against the car window, he glanced at his phone once again, like he did all night, still wondering why Vegas had stopped responding.
Deep inside, he tried to reassure himself that Vegas had probably fallen asleep on the couch while waiting for him. And a smile slowly appeared on his face as he thought about the peaceful sleeping face of his lover.
Watching the blur of city lights and listening to the faint song playing in the background, this was the only thing Pete wanted.
Coming home.
Lek parked the car in the alley after what felt like a three-hour drive. Pete quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, and hurriedly made his way, the smile he couldn't contain still spreading across his face, and the thrilling excitement of his heart beating gently in his chest...
...When suddenly, all of that vanished violently as his eyes stopped on the half opened door, revealing the mansion entrance engulfed in complete darkness.
Pete's eyes wandered around as Lek rushed towards him, pulling his gun out from the back of his pants.
"Khun Pete, back down," Lek commanded, his tone both authoritative and concerned. He reached out to push Pete behind him, but Pete didn't budge.
Instead, his eyes fixated on dark stains on the ground, forming a pattern, a pattern almost as pretty as an abstract painting.
Blood. It was blood right in front of the door leading inside.
Pete followed the trail of stains until his gaze met a bloody hand-shaped mark smeared on the door frame. And without thinking, he rushed inside.
Lek followed him immediatly and stood frozen in the large entrance, his eyes widening as he was staring at what looked like a battle field.
The chaos and what it implied. He extended his gun, aiming at nothing, desperately trying to reach Pete and shield him from whatever danger lay ahead.
And the iron smell hitting his nose, wercking his guts.
Lek didn't know what awaited them or why there was blood, why everything felt so eerily silent yet weighed so heavily on his senses, causing his lungs to burn whenever he attempted to take a deep breath. Yet, his hand remained steady, his eyes focused on every detail in their surroundings. He was ready.
