-Pete-
The ride was silent. The sun was still high in the sky, yet the air felt cold.
Vegas and I didn't talk. We didn't even look at each other. There was a tension between us, something that never happened before. I felt a pinch in my heart growing bigger as we were getting closer of the mansion.
Vegas didn't understand. He didn't understand what I was trying so hard to tell him. I'm tired. I'm scared. But most of all I can't take being a victim anymore. Being weak, unable to defend myself, waiting for something, someone to come save me.
As much as it was killing me to admit, the words that Takahara's said touched me deeper than I thought.
He was right. I want to be more. So much more. I want to be the hunter I was before I knew Vegas.
Before my body and my soul were broken.
What Porsche said when we were together in my old room, surrounded by the things I owned, the things that belongs to the life I had before made me realize how much I lost myself in Vegas.
I want to feed the fire that started burning in me when I let that choker necklace turned into ashes.
That moment as trivial as it seemed as a way to show me that I had the choice, the power to decide by myself. To protect the people I love. The power to save me.
I want to kill Takahara. By myself. As simple as that.
I leaned my head against the car door and looked at Vegas' reflection in the windshield.
His lips were pressed together, his eyebrows frowned, lost in his thoughts.
I wanted to put my hand on his thigh, to feel him. I wanted to apologize for my sudden outburst earlier. But I didn't dare to. I just looked at him secretly, his eyes focused on the road, driving us home.
When we finally arrived, Vegas went directly upstairs. I was about to follow him when I felt my phone vibrating inside my pocket. I quickly looked around, my eyes moving towards Vegas. I watch him climbed the stairs and when I could only see his shadow, I grabbed my phone and opened it.
« Hey. How are you, Pete? I just wanted to know if everything's all right. I have something to show you, I will send it to you later. I'm pretty sure you are going to like it. Take care my dear Pete. »
I smiled and quickly answered him and put back my phone in my pocket.
I put the food we picked up in the kitchen and quickly climbed the stairs.
I was about to arrive in the second floor hallway when I saw a shadow moving quickly. I titled my head and quicken the pace of my steps to see that it was Macau closing the door of our bedroom in a rush, holding something I couldn't see in his hand.
I looked at him confused but when I saw the guilty look on his face, like he was just being caught red handed, I immediately understand that he was hiding something.
Macau lifted his gaze and when our eyes finally met, he suddenly froze. We looked at each other without moving, both wondering who was going to make the first move.
I was about to rush towards him to see what he probably took from our bedroom but he suddenly started to run the other way. I managed to quickly grab him by the collar of his shirt from behind making him staggered and stepped down.
Where the hell do you think you're going you little bastard?!
"What were you doing in our bedroom?" I asked trying to stop him from running away once again.
