Thaddeus Spade

I buzzed Alexi in, anxious to get my burden off my chest since Sargio had been no help at all.

"She said we were blurring lines after kissing me back." I explain to the older man who was styling my hair.
"You are both young, and considering that Anita is in college where sex isn't as coveted a thing as it is in any other setting. I think you may be thinking into her actions deeper than she is."

Sargio doesn't see the way she looks at me. I feel her want for me, I know she feels my desire for her as well.

Maybe I am over thinking all of this.

Anita isn't shying away from me and is just as physically clingy as ever.

When I invite her to sit down, she always sits the closest to me she physically can without crawling onto my lap. Although we don't share the same bed now that the baby's gone, we still talk into the night.

We share every meal together and some are quiet but others are filled with unending fulfilling conversations.

"Lexi, sit." I demanded pointing to the chair in front of me.

"Everything okay?" Alexi asked and I don't want to alarm him because things not going 'okay' in this business means, burn everything and start in another country.

"Yes, I called you here for personal reasons." I watch his shoulders ease at the news.
"Alright."

"Before I start, I would first like to prefix everything by saying that I'm both physically and emotionally attracted to Anita." I lay out, saying it out loud only cemented it into me.

"I noticed."

"...oh...well It's new and complicated." I explain, "I was wondering if you could give me some advice."

"I don't know how good I'll be at women, Thad." Alexi says humorously.

"It's the same isn't it?" I asked, genuinely unsure.
"No, it's not." Alexi tells me and I frown.
"Men are often just less complicated overall."

"Sargio isn't helpful so you're my last option."

Alexi sits across from me.

"I was under the impression that she was interested in me. Although, I'll admit I've been unavailable for years and maybe I'm not the best at reading the-"

"She's into you." Alexi interrupts and for the first time I'm pleased at an interruption.

"I tried to tell Sargio that but he thinks I'm delusional, although that's beside the point. Why would she want to put space between us if she likes me?"

"I don't know, there could be a multitude of reasons but the most glaring one by far is the complicated nature of her role here. No one wants to start a relationship with someone with a messy background. Typically you hide all the messy relationships stuff until you can't anymore, but you started off by pushing it infront of her."

"You think this is because of Angela?"
Of course, it makes sense it would be.

"Not entirely, but I think it's a good place to start."

"I need you to look into something for me." I tell him and I can tell by the look on his face that he knows that the switch from this being a friendly conversation to a more formal one.

"Yesterday, around 3 o'clock, Anita and I entered a boutique, I don't remember the exact name but it's adjacent the jewelry store on this receipt. Later on, maybe an hour or so after we entered, it appears that a men came after us and he caused a scene. Anita was terrified of him and I want to know why." I pulled out the receipt from my leather bond wallet and held it out to him.
