Thaddeus Spade
There was a time when I lost control.
Killing my father was not a moment I lost myself in, that act was one that I chose and acted upon without question or fear.
It was the moment my calls for my mother received no answer. When I ran across the house, eager to find her and while knowing deep down that I'd freed her from her cage and that she was gone.
Painting, furniture and people faced my wrath, anyone I could get my hands on bared the blunt of my pain.
The only person I didn't hurt was myself because the pain inside me was so suffocating that the little pity I had, I used for myself.
A moment of weakness like that had to stay in the past. I could not lead if I lacked control.
My hands shake in front of me as I think of all the things that they could be doing to her.
How her body could be battered and without breath right now.
They'd taken her from right under me... no I sent her right to them.
That shot although it hit my chair was never meant for me, I knew it the moment that instead of continuing with their lazy attempt at an assassination the gun man turned and ran.
But it was already too late, I sent her out, thinking only if her safety and now she was gone.
My whole body shakes as I try to rein in my rage.
The house was left empty as I sent everyone who could look for her out.
Alexi stood beside me, saying something I couldn't hear with the blood rushing into my ears.
They'd thrown him out of the car on the side of the highway like he was trash.
My driver was shot in the chest and died after the collision.
"Thaddeus?" Alexi calls my name, clearing the thoughts in my head.
"Yes." I answer, tempering my voice to hide my rage.
"They came for her." He tells me as if it wasn't obvious.
"I know." I answer.
"She's probably dead." Alexi said and almost as if some gate that had been helping me hold on and remain calm had been ripped out of the ground and tossed aside, I anger bellowing out of me.
I stand up and lift my table of the ground and flip it towards where Alexi was standing.
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU SAY THAT?" I shouted approaching him.
"I-"
My cellphone rings on the floor somewhere pulling me out of my anger.
Alexi walks over and picks it up. He brings the phone with a now cracked screen to me.
I answer the blocked number hoping with everything that there's someone on the other side who knows where Anita is.
"Yes."
"Hello Thaddeus." The voice on the other side of the phone is unmistakable.
"Artemis Michaelson."
"It's been brought to my attention that your bride has been stole-"
"If I find out you or your pathetic brother did this I swear to-"
"Listen you might want to save the threats for later. We wouldn't want you to run out of time. Come outside, no weapons and I'll tell you where your bride is."
The line goes dead.
"What the Fuck is Artemis fucking Michaelson doing here?" Ali bursted into the room.
I shrug off my suit jacket and tossed it on to the floor. I removed my gun and tossed it as.
