Chapter one- A New Beginning

~authors note: So for those who don't know all my work was deleted and I was trying to decide what books to work on getting back up cause I got to start from scratch cause I had no back ups. Clearly I decided on this one, but in reality I narrowed it down to two. So the other one will be coming up eventually. I'm focusing on my fanfic a hoping it will improve my writing skills for actual books. Also wanted to ask that everyone give some constructive criticism cause it helps. and sorry for the shortness of the chapters, they will get longer as I improve.

New note: This chapter has a lot of view verses the rest of my chapters. I hope that those of you who read this will be able to continue to read it. The first two chapters are not the best but the story improves. Please read at least five chapters before discarding this story as garbage. Thank you.

"All right you guys I'm ganna show you I've got what it takes to be a pirate." A little kid shouted as he stood on the stern of the boat, a knife in his hand.

"Hey captain! Luffy's back." one of the crew members said.

"I wonder what he's ganna do this time." another stated.

"Yahh!" Luffy shouted as he stabbed his face just below his left eye.

"Woah woah!? Somebody stop him." the captain shouted.

Luffy was sitting at the local bar after having his injury taken care of.

"So are you going to let me join your crew Shanks?" Luffy asked the captain.

"No way!" He turned him down laughing, "Your little stunt earlier proves nothing. It takes more than being able to take a hit to be a pirate." he turned to his rowdy crew. "Right guys?"

"Yah!!" They all shouted with glee.

"That's not fair." Luffy grumbled.

"A pirate needs to be able to swim." Shanks took a drink of his sake. "And a pirate needs to know how to fight.

"I'm a great swimmer." Luffy countered. "And I can fight. I've been practicing, my punch is as fast as a pistol shot."

Shanks seemed to consider for a sec, "No way, still can't come." He laughed as Luffy began shouting at him again. "Calm down there Luffy. Have some orange juice."

"Oh thanks Shanks!" Luffy happily started to drink.

"Hahaha only a little kid would get that excited over juice." Shanks laughed, slamming his hand on the counter.

"You tricked me!" Luffy shouted making Shanks laugh even harder.

"Hey hey! No hard feelings now Luffy." Shanks laughed as Luffy turned away to pout. "come on, you can't just eat your problems away!" Shanks laughed as he saw that Luffy was eating something.

"Yuck! this fruit tastes terrible." Luffy exclaimed.

"Huh?" Shanks looked next to Luffy and saw an empty chest next to him. "Hey Luffy, did you eat the fruit in this box?!" Shanks grabbed Luffy's legs an began to shake him. "Spit it out!"

"I can't, I already swallowed it. Oww!?" Luffy said when his legs suddenly stretched slamming his face into the floor. "What's going on?"

"Do you have any idea what you've done?" Shanks asked Luffy as his crew gathered around. "That fruit you just ate was the devil fruit called the gum gum fruit. It makes so that you can stretch your body, which is now made out of rubber."

"Awsome!" Luffy cheered.

"Yah, but now you'll be a hammer for the rest of your life. Devil fruit users will die if the fall in the ocean." Shanks explained.

"What!? No take it back!" Luffy cries.

"There's no going back now. "Your stuck with it now." One of the crew members said gravely.

*Meanwhile in a distant see known as the Calm Belt on an island isolated and guarded by giant creatures called Sea Kings as well as mysterious currents a powerful being is woken.*

At the center of the island a cave glowed with an ominous light. Deep inside the cave, bound to a rock, stood a man.

"So someone ate that fruit." He said as a single eye opened and glowed red.

~So any guesses as to who the mystery man is? I hope lots of people read this fanfic I think it has a lot of potential(I'm writing it so that doesn't count) so please comment and vote. and the intro isn't set if anyone can think of a better one as they read through the story I would appreciate it.
