“But I would walk five hundred miles and I would walk five hundred more just to be the man who’d walk a thousand miles to fall down at your door!” Rebecca and I burst out singing as we listen to it. We were currently at a party a guy in our grade is hosting. Melanie was beside us, dancing. Some of the jocks gawked at the girls dancing, others drank with their girlfriends, other were doing beer pong.
I was already a few drinks in and it was great! I felt like I can fly and sleep on the clouds at this point. When Nelly’s song Porsche came on I literally screamed in excitement, “I love this song!”
Rebecca, Melanie, and I sand along with other girls on the dance floor. Soon, Riley started dancing with Melanie and Landon with Rebecca. I shrugged, I can dance alone. No problem. Two arms suddenly wrapped around my waist and I smiled. Derek did come tonight. When I turned around to see him I cringed. It wasn’t Derek. It was Porter. I pushed him away from me.
“Don’t touch me,” I warn.
“Told she was hard to get,” Brian, from the manner classes, came to stand beside Porter. “Nice to see you again Annabelle.” Of course these two would be friends.
“I can’t say the same,” I said before turning back to the dance floor. I moved through the crowd to get to the alcohol. If I was going to deal with Porter and Brain tonight I need more.
I walked outside, a slight breeze ruffling up my hair. I walked to where the keg was and poured myself a drink. The backyard was abandoned, for now. People will start coming back to get more drinks. Dancing sure is a workout, I thought as I downed some alcohol. I leaned against the table and allowed the breeze to cool me down. A body pressed against my back and tramped me to the table.
“You’re so hot,” Porter breathed against my ear before trailing kisses to my neck.
I cringed and pushed him away. “Leave me alone Porter.”
“Where’s Derek?” he asked. “Is Jackie tying him down—literally?”
My hands clenched into fists. Punch him or walk away? As much as I would enjoy punching him, I had to make the adult decision. Walk away. I walked around but he didn’t have any intention of letting me go. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me close to his body. I tried pushing him away but he wouldn’t budge.
“Y-You’re scaring me Porter,” I said.
“What the hell Porter?” Brian said, walking to us. He stood behind me. I was officially trapped. “We agreed she’d be mine.”
I can’t breathe. I was surrounded. They weren’t going to let me go.
“Plans change,” Porter says as he stares down at me.
