NOT EDITED
"We're Charlie's Angels bitches!" Rebecca exclaims as she points a plastic gun out the car window. We have just come from shopping for Halloween costumes. Yes, we need go with Rebecca's idea-like we even had a choice. We're also going to get dressed up tonight for the concert Derek got us tickets for when he was apologizing to me.
"Don't point it out the window!" Melanie yells. When Rebecca went to lean out the window to show her 'badass' self to people who pass us, Melanie grabbed the back of her shirt. "Get back in the car!"
"Yeah, if we get pulled over I'm saying you held us at gunpoint and made me drive," I added, looking at Rebecca like she's lost it. In a matter of fact, she kind of did lose it-in both categories. The wrapper band keeping her craziness in check and her virginity. That's right, she and Landon did get some last night.
Rebecca rolled her eyes but pulled the plastic gun inside the car anyway. "Relax," Rebecca sighs. "And nice to know you'd abandon me so easily."
My cell phone went off suddenly. "Can you grab it?" I asked Rebecca.
She reached for my phone and cringed, "Its Porter."
"Answer it," I sigh. "I can't ignore him forever."
Rebecca hit the accept hit. "Hello douchebag, this is Annabelle Jenkins's phone. How may I help you?"
Rebecca turned on the speaker. "You're funny," Porter said bluntly. "There's a last minute musical meeting in an hour."
"Why?" Rebecca asked.
"Something has happened," Porter didn't sound the least bit happy about whatever happened.
Rebecca sighed, "Fine, we'll be there." She hung up and placed my cell phone back in the cup holder it was in earlier.
"It better not make us late to the concert," I say. "Melanie, can I drop you off at Riley's?"
Melanie nodded, "Yeah sure. I'll tell them you guys will be longer than expected."
I dropped Melanie off at Riley's over going to the school. We went through the auditorium entrance and into the theater. Almost everyone was there already and the director was pacing on stage. She looked nervous and she was playing with her fingers. Rebecca and I took a seat a few rows back from the stage. I scanned the crowd of people already here and didn't see Porter here yet. That's strange. He would be the first one here, I thought.
Once everyone was here our director announced, "There will be a change be in the casting."
Everyone's faces held confusion. "What the hell is going on?" Rebecca whispered to me.
I shrugged and listened to the director. "Porter, come on out." Everyone's attention turned to Porter who was walking one stage from the back. He had a cast on his arm. I hope Derek didn't do that, I wondered. "As you guys can see, our main lead is unable to perform in the final show and since our back-up Don Lockwood is tremendously sick we have no choice-there will be open audition today to anyone who wants to audition for the role was Don Lockwood.
