“Godzilla is leaving the premises!” Rebecca exclaimed. We were camped out in my room, waiting for my mom to leave for the mystery meeting. I sat up on my bed. Rebecca was looking out my window, looking through binoculars.

“Do you really need the binoculars?” I asked.

Rebecca glared, “Shut up, I want to be a spy for today. Now move your ass she’s leaving!”

We grabbed our purses before running downstairs. My dad was out having lunch with some buddies, watching football, so we were clear. I started the car and quickly backed up from the driveway. I put the car in drive before following a good distance behind my mom’s car.

“I feel like I’m in a Tom Cruise movie,” Rebecca comments, grinning in excitement. “I hope a car explodes.”

I looked at her like she is crazy. “Are you on any drugs? We’re following my mom to see what she’s up to because we think it has something to do with my curse. Why would we see a car blow up?”

          “I don’t know. Maybe she’s a spy.”

I sigh, “You need to let this spy thing go.”

“No Anna,” Rebecca replied. “I want to be a spy so I’m going to be a damn spy!”

“Alright! You can be a spy,” I said, holding one hand up in surrender.

We stayed quiet the rest of the ride. Rebecca was too into her character as a spy to engage in any form of a normal conversation. My mom pulled up to this creepy looking motel. What if she’s having an affair instead? I wondered.

“I knew it! Your mom is here to kill someone!” Rebecca exclaimed, smiling in excitement. “Or she’s here to have some hot, kinky sex with some dude.”

I sighed and decided to ignore the comment. Let her have her fun, I thought as I park the car a few spaces away from where my mom parked. I put the car in park and took the keys out. I rested my head on the headrest as I watch my mom get out of her car. She didn’t go to the front desk. She looked around her before walking up to the fourth room. My mom knocked hesitantly and the door opened to reveal a woman. At least she’s not having an affair, I thought. Unless she’s hiding a secret, I speculated before shaking off that idea. My mom walked inside and the woman shut the door.

“Time to move,” Rebecca said before she opened the car door.

I followed her up to the door of room four. Rebecca leaned her head against the door, seeing if she can hear through. I look around; making sure no one is watching us. “Can you hear anything?” I whispered.

Rebecca shook her head. “We have to go with another plan.”

Rebecca took my hand and we ran to the back of the building. Rebecca counted the windows and we found room four. I peered through the window and saw it was the bathroom. The door was opening and I could see my mom sitting down on a chair. Rebecca opened the window, careful not to make a noise. I must say, I do feel like a spy.
