The next day, Venus blushed a bright crimson when she saw the blonde, who was wearing her gift proudly.
"Willow!" she whispered, pointing in the direction of the boy.
"Oh, my god, he wore it. HEY DRACO!" The girl called, waving at him.
"Wills, Wills, no, no, I hate you." Venus seethed, her face tinting pink as the boy walked over to them.
"Cool charm dude." Ethan said as Willow shoved Venus out from behind her.
"I know right. Never taking it off." He said, giving the girl a smile and walking away.
"Awww." Willow said, cooing. Venus stared at the ground for a moment before speaking.
"I want to turn you into a snowman and then melt into a puddle." she said simply, making Ethan cackle in laughter.
"Love you too girl." Willow replied, slightly scared but beaming. "Are you ready to go home?"
"So ready! I've been craving some of my mom's herbal scones. Each one has a different healing effect."
"Those sound awesome!"
"I'll send you some. Are you excited to see your little brother and sister Willow?"
The curly haired girl whined at the thought of her monster younger siblings.
"They're menaces! A threat to society!"
Ethan and Venus laughed, knowing that their friend found her siblings to be less than entertaining. Hazel and Raine were troublemakers, to say the least.
The trio left later that day to their families. Venus was overjoyed to spend time with her parents again. Her father showed off his latest invention, Venus showing him one of her own, of which the man was more than overjoyed. She and her mother conversed in Latin and French, keeping their multilinguality flowing. Copernicus enjoyed teachers her daughter Greek and magical engineering. While Layla taught her magical medicine and remedies. Both were overwhelmingly proud by the progress their daughter had made with her magic. Her mother was beaming when Venus told her about her apprenticeship with Madame Pomfrey, and her father was boisterous when he learned that Remus Lupin was assisting his daughter with her magic.
"Remus was always a kind boy, he helped your father and I with prefect duties when we were swamped with work, and even tinkered with your dad sometimes."
Venus was happy to hear about her parents younger days and nostalgia. However, she was less excited checking the mail that Jane Austen had flown in one morning.
"Dad, mum, you may want to see this...It's from the Minister of Magic."
Copernicus took the letter form his daughter and opened it.
"Dear Snow Family,
You are invited to attend the Ministry's annual Christmas Ball, to be hosted at the enclosed address. Come in your best festively regal attire.
P.S. I expect Ms.Snow to bring her vocal talents with her
Sincerely,
Cornelius Fudge, The Minister of Magic."
Layla Snow sighed and checked the date for the event.
"Tomorrow night."
Venus sighed and rubbed her temples.
"I'll be in the music room."
"Would you like help my dear?" Her mother offered, giving her a supportive smile. Venus smiled back at her and nodded. They both returned into Frost Mansion and went into the music room.
"What are you thinking?"
The young girl sighed and looked around the large marbled room. She grazed the keys to the grand piano and traced her fingers on the strings of the cello.
"Guitar."
"Wonderful my dear, what about the song?"
"Still working that out. I think I'm just going to play around for a bit until one comes to mind."
"Alright. I'll make you some scones, how does that sound?"
Venus smiled at her mother and nodded happily at the thought of her mother's treats. She spent the next day practicing and rehearsing for the suaree. In the afternoon, she realized that she would need a dress for the party and had little time to find one. She shuffled through her closet, laying out options, but none of them felt right. It didn't help she had grown out of many of her dresses and clothes.
She was about to start altering one to fit her when Crystal landed onto her pedestal with a package in her beak. The owl dropped it to the floor, catching the ravenette's attention. There was a letter attached that she opened before unwrapping the parcel.
"Merry Christmas Venus, I had a gut feeling you would need this early, hope you love it- Willow"
Venus opened the wrapped brown paper and lifted the dress inside.
It was a deep red, off the shoulder with bows on either arm. Snowflakes and particles littered the dress in white jewels and gems. She smiled at the personal touches Willow had given the gown, with a short slit on the left side and a rounder bodied skirt to make her look doll-like. She put on the dress hastily and cast a makeup charm. Her mother walked in with a deep emerald dress on, complementing her raven hair perfectly. Venus always admired her mother, who could always look so poised and elegant no matter the occasion.
"You look Darling my daughter, would you like me to do your hair? It's almost time to go."
"Yes please."
Layla Snow waved her wand and Venus' hair was too pinned up into an elegant topknot. Her bangs fell around her face, framing it, and a white ribbon now threaded through her hair.
"Oh!" Venus quickly turned around and took something out of her dresser. She put on the snowflake earrings she adored heavily and adjusted the necklace she never took off her neck.
"You love that necklace don't you?" Her mother commented with a smile.
"Father and grandmother made it, of course I love it."
Her mother put the moon pendant between two of her fingers and twirled it around, the gem in the center shining in the light.
"She was a wonderful woman, your a lot like her you know. You get the same white hair she would get, then again she was a blonde..."
Venus smiled at her mother. White hair was an inherited trait that would happen whenever anyone with their hereditary magic would use it. In her father's case, wisps of silver from age ready began to fade out the original brunette locks. Her grandmother however, would have the most amazing baleage when using her magic. Venus wished she too, had been a blonde, but was grateful for her mother's raven hair. It gave a stark contrast when using her magic and she enjoyed the stripes she occasionally aquired.
"We should be on our way, your father is waiting for us."
The two ladies descended the stairs and met with Copernicus, who was in front of the fire place.
"My girls, you look wonderful."
Layla kissed her husband on the cheek and he returned the gesture to her hand as they stepped into the fireplace, Venus following suit with a handful of floo powder.
"The Minister of Magic's Mansion!"
