Back at Frost Mansion, Venus' parents sat her down. She looked wearily concerned at their reactions to the invitation from the Malfoy's.

"What is this about? Mum I thought you and Lucius Malfoy were close? Do you not trust them?"

Layla sighed and shook her head.

"No Darling, it's not that, it's just..."

"We want you safe Snowflake."

"The Malfoys have an alliance with the Dark Lord."

"But what does that have to do with me? I thought you were impartial in the war?"

"You-know-who also wanted your father on his side during the war, but was beaten to it by the Minister. After the incident, we became neutral and had you. You my darling daughter, have your father's amazing abilities and the dark Lord will want to take those for himself. We don't think he knows that you inherited your father's magic, I doubt he knows we even have a child. We kept your birth certificate off file and had you here at the house. But if he does know, you must play into everyone's hands, just like with the Minister, you don't know how to use it. As far as they know, you can't control your abilities and it's too dangerous for you to use them, unless it's absolutely essential."

Venus felt shivers race down her spine at the impending threat.

"Yes mother. But the Minister already knows I have dad's magic, and I doubt he's buying that I don't know how to use it."

"Your dad will help that situation. We are coordinating with Dumbledore to forge records of magical incompetency."

"That I don't know how to use my magic?"

"That you can't control it, at the cost of other's safety. Dumbledore will keep it off your school record, Merlin knows your an amazing student. But, we can't have the Ministry knowing how talented you are my dear. Not at magic."

The two women stared at each other with concern and familial love. It was going to be a long summer break.
