The moon was bright as I waited for the local guards to clear a path for me to walk to the front door. I smiled as a smoky creature danced around just with out a care in the world.
"Lilith just because your my demon doesn't mean you need to fool around. Well at lest your cute." I said. I was soon at the front door and I entered into the room. In the room was a misty archway. I heard the giggles and laughs of more demons on the other side. I sighed, I'm going to have to investigate that. Why did I decide to sign up to be a summoner detective?! I thought.
A woman had been killed, strangled to death in her bed by an invisible entity, a demon. Her body had three deep bloodied scratch marks, a mockery of the holy trinity. I found out from her husband they'd tried moving, but it wasn't the house that was haunted, it was her.
"Well I guess she's not haunted now she's dead, right?" Lilith joked.
I roll my eyes, watching the corners of the room.
"I wouldn't bet on it." Once I make sure the demons had left the room, I turn my attention to the archway, the vail through which the demons lay in wait I pulled out my side arm and cheek that the crystal in my revolver where bright in side the chambers. I wrap the band around my hand and walk in to the mist. Lilith form became more solid as she touched her self to fell her body.
"Wish you spent more time on this side." She said.
"Well I'm sorry, but it's my job."
"Humph! Now I can't float," she whined, "it's no fun walking around everywhere, it's no fun when you can't walk through stuff."
She flicked her long blonde hair with a huff. She pushed her hand against a wall to prove her point.
The world looked the same as ours, except more faded out, grey and unreal in some way. It was like an artists impression of what the room looked like, but they only had grey and black to play with. There was the odd dash of colour though, it usually started with blood.
Normally my job would just be to destroy any nearby demons and close the veil through to the demon world, but this time was different. When the haunting of the woman had begun, their young daughter had gone missing. It was an unsolved case, but now the involvement of demons well you can guess what happened. I look out a window to see more of the same gray painting.
"Well it a mirror world this time." I said as I started walking thru the house.
"Cute, this thing so weak." Then a photo of her fucking a dog floated by "Now I'm going to kill it!"
"You can't kill it!" Lilith yelled, "if it's so weak, what's the point in you killing it!"
She ran to stop me, I stopped. I knew she was right. There is no point killing something as weak as that.
"Fine. I won't kill it, let's keep moving then,"
I continued to walk.
Hours we searched. Lilith protected me from attacks through the backstreet and alleys, the beasts and vile creatures. She had taken the scent from the missing girls things and was hunting her out like a sniffer dog.
We came to an abandon theatre and hunted around. The theatre was the same as the one I had passed in the human world, but even from outside Lilith could sense that demons were inside.
"The girl's in there alright." She confirmed. I found a back entrance, and the two of us quietly slipped inside. It was easy since a mirror world fallow the same way world works. I found the girl suspended in the air tie to a chair. Under her was a pack of dogs around a pit of snake pit. I took aim and killed the demon dogs with shot thru the head. I walk out on to the stage looking for it. "Is that the girl?" I asked Lilith. "Could be." Lilith shrugged. She walked closer to inspect the airborne girl.
The girl's head turned to me upside down, possessed by a demon she shouted, "you'll never take her alive!"
"Hmm," I mused, "what now Lilith?"
"I'm going to have to possess her myself," Lilith replied.
She turned into a black shadow mist and enveloped the girl. Lilith forces the demon out, sending it spinning against the wall. I pull my revolver back out, sending a crystallised bullet after it. In a cloud of dust it explodes, and I release the bonds holding the girl. Lilith materialises beside me again, and I carry the girl to the exit.
