I was watching the slow advance of the men as I held my spear on my shoulder. Just waiting for orders to move out."Sad the army was beaten so easy." I said as I I kicked a goblin head in to a tree. "What you wanted more blood spilled?" A ogre size of a guy said as he toss his ax.
"I like watching the light leave their eyes. You'll find I'm a bit of a sociopath."
"At least," replied the ogre, "maybe even psychopath."
"Ha! A smart ogre" I said, "the time & nature of the landscape call upon some to be kings who would otherwise be locked in chains.
I look on to the distance, wondering about the distant cities. I needed no reason to kill I live in battle grounds my whole life. Seen hell as a childhood norm. But being payed to kill, not order to. Now that was rather nice thing. I saw a dead body slowly moving and I toss my spear at it hearing a scream of a goblin. "Miss one let fix that.
We fixed it.
We were paid handsomely in gold by our new boss. He said he had a new job for us and recounted the legend of 'The Sword In The Tree.'
The cherry blossom tree was located in the deadly swamp, few returned. Whomever held the sword would have great power.

I was determined to get that sword . My mother had died trying to get it . I wanted justice for my mom. Everyone thought our boss was crazy for sending a women to those swamps but he ordered his men to chop of all of the heads of the ones who disobey him. 300 men died my mom she walked out of the swamp carrying a wood box. She die holding the box. I made sure she was laid to rest in the best things I could. I spent a year just paying that off. I would do that agin, hell I would have done two years if I could, she trained me and I was her son.
We travelled to the swamp on horseback.
I ventured, "some say that the sword is deep inside the trunk of a tree. The Stone Tree."
The ogre replied, "what is 'The Stone Tree' then?"
"A growing possessed stone with branches and leafs, roots and flowers."
"We smash!"

"Um can you not do that " a girl said "What you got a issue skinny" ogre said. "Um first of all the name is not skinny second of all the name is Carrie L but you can call me just Carrie or else I will twist your neck , stomp on it , and feed it to my dogs " Carrie said
"Point taken Carrie now why should we not brake a oversize rock?" I said as I I sharpen some wood stick as we went along. The stick where about two and a half inches long with some runes carven in to them. I smiled they look harmless, but one knew the spell, well it deadly.
After much suspicious talk we tried to chase the orphan Carrie away. Then she stabbed a giant snake to death and saved my life, so, you know, she came along with us.
"It's stone roots will choke you," I said "it's stone pollen will fill your lungs. It's stone branches will

"Wait you think I am a orphan" Carrie said
"How did you know that "
I reluctantly said
"I can read minds"
Carrie replied
"Haha she is a witch"
Ogre laughed
Carrie grabbed ogres neck and slammed his head into the tree. Ogre fell down and was silent .
"Now now children should not fight." I said as I tossed one of my wood spikes. "Edolpxe." I said when the spike struck the tree behind them it exploded knocking them apart. "Now can we go along before I have to use them on you two." I said as orc look as mad as she looked.
Clearly reader, we were a ragtag bunch, the three of us, and I may just be a very unreliable narrator.
Anyway, after much exciting adventuring in the swamp we reached The Stone Tree.
It indeed attempted to strangle, choke and slash us.
It didn't count on tricksy me.

Whe walked for hours when we finally saw the swamp. "Carrie NO YOU WILL DIE" I screamed reluctantly . She swung on a vine and landed on top of the tree. No not any ordinary tree, it was the tree I was looking for . Our enjoyment was short lived. Very very short lived.
Now we will find out why my mother was the only person that ever came out of this swamp.
