Look at the house

All bright and yellow

It's door the perfect shade of green

Look at the house

Rooming the perfect people

But under the roof

Is horrible things

Under the roof

Is lots of beatings

A slap, a punch, a kick

Within those walls

Are unwashed dishes

An excuse for the lover's wrath

Within those walls

There's an overlooked dinner

Enough to earn the belt

In that bedroom

Wrists are grabbed

Held down by force

Accuses are made

Remember not to yell

Neighbours don't need to know

I saw you looking at another!

You've been fooling around!

Always home late!

I can smell the alcohol!

In this cellar

I am locked at night

As punishment for some slight

In this cellar

I live in fear of the rats

Daren't shout out

I know what I'll get

In this street

I put on a smile

Pretending it's all fine

Although I must be honest

With myself of course

And honestly I'm not

I'm not alright

Every inch of me aches

Every inch of me begs

For this terror to stop

Look at the house

Under the roof

Within those walls

In this cellar

In this street

If people knew

What would they say

That man is a Nancy

That man must be gay

To let a woman hit him

Hit him, me, that way
