Water was falling from the sky, and the bleary was was crawling into my eyes.
He was behind me, I know it. I knew it. I could hear his labored breathing behind me, but I knew he wasn't going to give up.
He was going to keep chasing me until I broke.
It was pointless. It didn't matter how long I stayed awake. How long or far I'd run. I'd been travelling for a week. City to city, hotel to hotel, alley to alley. Yet, he always seemed to be right on my tail. The problem was I didn't even know who I was running from. I just got told I had to run. So I did. I needed to know who was chasing me. What they looked like, how dangerous they were, What they could do to me and whether if it was one person or maybe even hundreds. I had no clue.
Who were my allies? I had none. What happening this very moment? Well, I was fearing for my life, hoping to god I wouldn't stumble over my own two feet and fall. Just one fall,
And he would catch me.
The rain was colder. My lungs, burning up for rest.
The doctor had put me on some pills, I didn't like how they made me feel, I stared at them on the hotel sideboard. I wondered if I still had a job, if my house was ok. I laughed in despair what a crazy woman.
Then the hotel phone rang. I stared at it, debating whether or not to answer it. Technically I could, I'd just have to be ready to run out of the door right after I hung up. At this point in time, phones were dangerous; they could give away my location.
It was ringing in the burning of silence. She stood on her toes, walking over to the phone, on guard.
Always on guard.
She flicked her wrist and picked up the sleek plastic."...hello..."
Heavy breathing was on the other end.
"Hello Clair. Ive caught you"
I ran frantically trying to get out of the hotel. I turned a corridor and there he was, I tripped and he grabbed me.
"Clair! I've caught you! I just want to help you!"
I closed my eyes & screamed as he restrained me.
I didn't know what was going to happen to me.
