The room the two were sitting in was dark. All four walls of the space were coated in black paint, except for neon blue light racing across the trim. From the furthest wall, a large flat-screen TV was mounted in its center. Three sets of boom boxes surrounded the screen. Yoongi's black desk is placed just in front of it. It, too, had a screen in the center but on either side laid different-sized charcoal gray boxes with buttons covering the top.
A double-stacked keyboard rested against the wall to the left, and on the opposite wall to the right were shelves full of different knick-knacks. She couldn't tell what those items were on the shelves, but they had to mean something to him if they were displayed.
Yoongi was hard at work. His eyes were glued to the screen, looking at the different bars stretching across the screen. As he watched them, distinct movements would jump up and down, flowing in a rhythm. Now and then, he would move his hands to one of the boxes with the buttons and press them lightly. He seemed satisfied with what he was doing.
Over his shoulder, on the back wall, sat Peri on his charcoal leather couch. He could hear her scribbling something down. He knew she was writing something down. She was writing at a furious pace, trying to keep up with her brain. She, herself, was working hard on something.
A loud rumble of her stomach stopped the two in their places. Yoongi swiveled the chair around to look at Peri. Her eyes were wide, and a pink blush rose on her cheeks. She was embarrassed that her body had given her away. Yoongi chuckled at her reaction.
"If you are hungry, you can go eat," he suggested to her.
Peri's eyes shifted back and forth while her mind debated her response. "It's ok. I can find something to eat later." That is what she had said to Yoongi. What she thought was she hoped she could find something to eat later. Another loud grumble had given her away. Internally she was trying to will her body to silence.
"Hajima! Get something to eat! You are hungry. I know you are. I heard your stomach growling at you." he responded, throwing his right hand into the air. Peri was still uncertain of how she should proceed. Yoongi could sense her hesitation. "Peri." the sound of him calling her new name snapped her up at him to look him in the eyes. "Are you worried about something?" he asked gently.
"It's just..." Her words were failing her again. She couldn't articulate what she wanted to say to him, more precisely, how to say what she wanted. She scratched the top of her head, trying to come up with the right words.
"Are you worried about leaving me?" he asked, trying to dig up what she was trying to say. Peri gave a slight nod. That was part of the problem. The building was huge. If he moved from this room, she wouldn't know where to go to find him. She remembered having difficulties trying to locate him before. It was sheer luck that he happened to walk into the elevator.
"Go get something to eat. Come back in an hour. I will be right here. Just knock on the door when you get here, and I'll let you in." he suggested.
"What about you? Aren't you hungry?" she asked. Peri was not yet ready to give up. She gave him a pleading look that Yoongi could not resist. Those damn eyes of hers were going to be the death of him.
"Alright, let's go get lunch," he said to her. Peri smiled wide, closed her notebook, and went to the door. Yoongi followed her with a little feeling of warmth in his heart.
They rode the elevator down in silence. Although she was curious about what he wanted to eat, she was content with the quietness of the ride. She enjoyed that she could look over at him and see him glancing at her now and again. Peri wasn't over the fact that he could see her, and she smiled at the notion.
