Nightshade was a common name that was brought up in the topic of Herbology, considering it proved significant in the class, and there was a secret organization named The Nightshades. She found herself next to Xavier, one of the Nightshades himself, drawing a detailed picture of a rose. The thorns stood out, their sharp points and green leaves seemed to trail off the page. Her head roamed, the endless possibilities of integrating a rose into her book might do for some exciting plot advancements.

Xavier looked up at her, trailing down her dark braids and jawline. His eyes sparkled in admiration; her dark beauty was captivating. He glanced back down at his work, continuing to shade the rose. Wednesday found her eyes back on Xavier, watching how he paid attention to the tiny details of the rose.

The door slammed, and a woman rushed in. Her curly hair bounced with every step, her eyebrows scrunched up. She set down her coffee and coat quickly before looking up, nervously chuckling before addressing the class.

"Good morning class. I'm the new replacement, Ms.Paterson. Nice to meet y'all."

The class offered a small reply, before going back to their conversations.

"I forgot to bring today's assignment. I accidentally slept in...whoops! Shall we do a get-to-know-you activity?" She smiled, clasping her hands together.

The class quieted, gazes shifting uncomfortably around the room.

"Oh well, how about next class? I'll give you a free day today."

The class mumbled their agreement, shifting back into their comfortable arrangements. Ms. Paterson nodded quickly and went to her desk, sitting down and laying her head on the desk. The noirette gave an amused look before her gaze shifted to Xavier, his eyes already on her.

She returned the stare, not shying away from his smug smile.

"Why are you staring at me, Wednesday Addams?" Xavier smiled, displaying that goofy grin that never failed to give the raven that feeling, which she had learned from Enid to be called 'butterflies." She wanted badly to find another name for them and had decided that spiders would be a better fit for the strange feeling.

"Maybe because I want to."

She kept her eyes steady, and unwavering, and there was not a hint of playfulness in her eyes. It was her way of trying to 'flirt' as Enid called it. Why did all these words sound so exceedingly childish? It was appalling, everything about this foreign subject was horrendous.

Xavier's mouth opened slightly before he shut it again, trying to find out how to respond, but inherently coming up with nothing.

She looked away, her pride spreading along with the smirk that found its way to her lips, that she was able to silence his egotism. She felt his eyes still on her, and she feigned not to notice as she pulled out her journal, the one she used to sketch occasionally.

Xavier blinked infrequently before looking down, biting his lip at her remark.

Addams was cunning in a way that he found entertaining.

Wednesday found her way to her room, peeking in to make sure Enid and Ajax hadn't beaten her to it. She sighed in relief when she found the room to be empty and entered the dorm quickly. Setting her stuff down, she sat at her typewriter, ready to write a few pages before Enid interrupted her again. But as she typed, her thoughts seemed to be focused on Xavier, her mind continuously going back to the way he got invested in his paintings, the way he looked at her, the way he had always found a way to say her name while they spoke. She wasn't sure what this was, Enid had said a crush was what it was considered, but she wasn't sure if it was more or less of that.
