"We're only haunted by the things we refuse to accept." ~Bridget Devoue

The rain panged against the multi-colored window, the sound ringing out through the silence of the evening. Wednesday sat in front of her typewriter, finally finding her groove to the rhythm of the rain. Enid sat on her bed with her headphones on, quietly humming to herself as she did her nails. A sudden knock on the door pierced through her thoughts, to which she frowned deeply. She looked over at Enid, who hadn't heard a thing. Rolling her eyes, she got up from the chair and went to the door, peeking out to find Xavier there, and her frown immediately dissipated.

"Wanna go on a walk?"

She looked at him, looked back to her window, then back at him.

"Are you unaware it's raining?"

He laughed, smiling down as he held up an umbrella.

"I don't mind if you don't mind."

Her mouth curved into a smile, and she went to grab her coat and followed him out. He held her hand, gently swinging it back and forth. It reminded her of one of their previous 'dates' if you will, and the memory made her smile widen.

They were met with the pattering of rain at their feet, small puddles surrounding the ground. Xavier opened up his umbrella, pulling Wednesday a little closer as they began to maneuver around the puddles, and then slowly out into the forest. The trees loomed over them, providing some cover from the rain.

"Do you think you're ready to carry out our plan?"

She looked over at him, nodding her head before looking straight ahead.

"I believe I'm capable of doing so, but Galpin tends to be unpredictable, as we have seen."

He shook his head, grimacing as he looked at her.

He half regretted agreeing to let her confront Galpin, because he knew it could take a dangerous toll any minute. What if...no. He shook the thought away, vowing to himself he wouldn't let anything bad happen to her while it went down. He would be right there, ready to step in if anything happened.

"You mustn't worry about that yet, Xavier. We have time to run through the plan, and make sure there aren't any loopholes."

Squeezing his hand, he gave her a warm smile before pulling her forward and running towards a clearing. They ran through the sloshy grass, water splashing as their feet hit the ground. Her eyes widened, and she gave him a crazed look before they were in the clearing, and he handed her the umbrella. Stepping out into the rain, he stuck his arms out and looked up, letting the rain wash over him. She watched him, a small smirk appearing on her face as she watched him.

"Come join me, Wendy."

"Wendy?"

"Thought of it last night, I think I like it better than Nes!"

He spun around, now completely drenched. The rain was gentle but still came down quickly.

She thought about the new nickname, considering it a moment before shrugging. It didn't matter what he called her, as long as it was him.

Carefully closing the umbrella, she stood there as the rain began to run down her face. She looked up, closing her eyes as she followed what Xavier did. He looked over at her, laughing before he came up and grabbed her from behind. She smiled as he spun her around a few times, setting her down as he met her eyes. Her eyes burned into his, and his into hers. They intently watched each other, and the idea still somehow felt foreign to them. The rain ran down her face, and he softly smiled before he leaned down to meet her lips.
