"Do you think this was a good idea?" Pingtsi asked, looking up with bitterness at the Chinese devil hunting HQ, having bad memories of it like the other fiends.
"I never liked this place." Long said, not feeling cold but she was hugging herself as a shiver ran up her spine.
Quanxi didn't grace any of the girls' muttering with acknowledgement, looking up at the building herself with her own thoughts.
They were outside, standing in the rain still but only Cosmo seemed to be complaining about that with her favorite and only spoken word: Halloween.
Quanxi was leaning against a lion statue outside, arms crossed and staring at the opaque glass entrance door of the building, she was a private devil hunter for a long time but her girls had been in the hands of the government before she exchanged her services for assassination and devil hunting jobs in exchange to let her take them so she knew the insides of this building quite well.
She looked at the half burnt cigarette she was holding, the devil that had previously walked in through the door having thrown it at her and told her to hold on it until she was back, all because it was written 'no smoking' on the building's doors.
She would have long thrown it away normally so it was a bit confusing too herself why she didn't, maybe because this devil truly didn't feel bad, like she had no afterthought like Makima would did despite them both being related, she still remembered that sinister smile of hers as she let Quanxi escape her certain death.... Had she offered Sei the same smile as she ran for her life too?
She, who tried to remain ignorant to things that didn't matter too her, was quite interested in this new devil.
She saw the lights of the building's lobby turn off, she knew they were still there, it was to make sure none of the other hunters would enter, a sort of secret code.
"Girls, what would you say about a new roommate?" She offhandedly asked, making the fiends shut up their muttering and all look at her while she was still staring at the building with narrowed eyes, hand on a sword hilt.
----------------------------------------------------------
"How is she lying?" She heard the mutter run through the interrogation room of the higher ups from the devil hunters and government, their faces shrouded in shadows.
"Maybe because I am not lying." She said for the tenth time, minimum.
"TRUTH!!!" A loud devil screamed in a creaky voice, it had took the form of an old time-y torture chair with hands instead of chair legs, several eyes on the back of the chair and a large mouth. Sei had voluntarily chosen to accept to sit in it to show she was being honest instead of retaliating in any way when the armed devil hunters were threatening to kill her at the smallest of movements she'd do.
Now her arms were trapped on the armrests by a bony rib cage that formed out of the devil's wooden body and grabbed her, each hand pierced by a single rib while six in total shot out of the backrest and through the back of her body, bending inwards and pulling back, holding her secured too the chair as similar rib cages formed around around her shins, the bones squeezing so hard it cut off feelings in her extremities, leaving numb tingling.
"Lies! Devils never want the good of humanity."
"I already told you all I wanted in a contract, I'll work for you are long as I can pawn off any and all injuries to a random citizen, I don't even plan on being hurt on purpose." She said.
"TRUTH TRUTH TRUUUUUUUUTH!!!!" The chair shaped devil shrieked, ribs flexing inwards as it moved, making her groan as it shifted, feeling blood trickle down her back at each shift of it.
