Bolt Through The Heart (Quanxi X F.OC)

(Fun fact: So the name of this book actually comes from a song with one lyric changed.)

(Ignore the video but the "Shot through the heart" is always how I read the title even if I wrote "Bolt" here.)

"Not only has the chainsaw man killed the gun devil and saved u--" Sei kicked the almost dead radio.

That one specific transmission going on loop, it almost felt deliberate.

"Yeah sure." She muttered, climbing over the rubble still left. "Come on girls, we are almost there." She said, looking over her shoulder, seeing Long almost look squeamish as the murder of crows tearing a rat to pieces, she needed to be sure Makima couldn't track them.

They were almost there and even if Makima would not know, she'd still have a lot to deal with.

Denji could barely believe it.

He had lost everything.

Aki, Power, miss Makima.

Why was everyone trying to kill him?

He was now stuck in this small room with Kobeni and Kishibe.

Stuck while people die because he is an idiot.

But the heavy knock on the door scared everyone.

"Now be on your best behavior and don't act out." Kishibe said, as if he knew who that was, Denji letting go of his ripcord.

"YOU!!" He yelled, annoyed when he recognized the dragon fiend.

Long stuck her tongue out, looking exhausted, Cosmo holding her arm.

"Don't yell at them." Both the human woman and the hybrid froze in momentary terror. "I might have her face but I am not Makima so shut up before you even start." The third person hissed.

"You might have never met her." Kishibe casually said as he closed the door. "But this is Seifuku, the other half."

"O-o-other half?!" Kobeni still screamed in fear since this 'Makima but not her' person's gaze terrified her.

"We were the conquest devil, we got ripped in two, she's the control devil, I am the domination devil... And the name's Sei." She corrected Kishike while giving the others an extremely fast run down. "In human terms, I am the ugly duckling twin of your nice murderous pink haired devil lady."

Denji just blinked, even he was not dumb enough to not see the differences between them when he stared at her but he still felt uneasy after the last few hours.

"Well what you doing here?" He asked.

"I just want the fiends safe."

"And she's our secret weapon."

"Now now Kishibe, don't overestimate me." Denji shivered when she looked at him, her eyes... Unlike Makima's they were looking at him and not through him, they had more life to them, more... "How do you plan of defeating her?"

"Ah?" Not expecting the question but having no answer.

"I thought so." Sei sighed, not having expected Denji to come up with it. At all. "Kishibe, keep an eye on them, I'll take care for her."

"Wow wait there!" Long yelled. "You'll die! You told us she almost killed you befo--" Sei gave her a strong chop to the throat, Cosmo requiring a gentler one to be knocked out.

"You want to fight miss Makima?" Denji asked.

"I have no real choice." Sei shrugged but she was scared on the inside. Her anger might drive her but her heart was beating fast. "Outside of you or the other horsemen, I am the only one that could stand up to her."

"But didn't she just say you almost died?"

"You know, we are the same devil but she has the original heart of our devil?" She asked, sticking her face in his and walking him backwards into a wall. "She wanted to kill me since that moment, to be whole again. Her plan was either killing me and eating me herself to be whole or have the chainsaw devil eat me and have me vanish from memories."

"Eat you?"

"Yeah, eat me." She backed up. "There is a small chance that with my death she dies too but her contract with Japan might save her, and since I am dying already, I can buy you--" She jabbed him in the chest. "-some time to try to come up with a way of killing her."

"That's a damned shitty life, dying anyway."

She shrugged.

"There are worst things out there kid." Sei said. "All I want from you is to protect the girls and I'll hold her off." She simply said. "And maybe stop her from getting to my corpse once I kick the bucket, she'd just become stronger then now. Or you know, figure something out to stop her if I don't."

She could see that he had not yet decided why he should fight.

She suspected that the chainsaw could eat Makima and she'd survive if Makima thought the opposite was true too, maybe that way her body would stop falling apart or, at least, not this fast.

And if, by some miracle, she could win somehow, becoming the conquest devil again would be at her finger tip and that would keep the other half from reincarnating again... But would she remain herself? She'll think of that if that ever happens.

She looked at the fiends and sighed, feeling awful for lifting her hand at them.

She looked at Kishibe.

"Take care of them if neither of us come back." She said to him, pushing up the sleeves of her hoodie to her elbows already.

"The least I can do."

She smiled at him before looking back at the hybrid, the terrified human ignored since she wasn't really of use here, lucky her.

"And you, decide what you fight for. I know why I do and you should too, it gives you strength." She grabbed the doorknob before the boy's hand gripped her wrist.

"What are you fighting for?" He was desperately looking for a reason, it showed.

"To protect those I care for, for love, for safety, and many other things but they all mean the same... To be sure those I love can continue smiling on."

He let go, blinking as she opened and closed the door behind her, the silence filling the room again.

"She doesn't stand a chance..." Was it sadness in Kishibe's voice? Denji couldn't tell, eyes fixated on the exit of the hideout.

"Well this sure is a surprise." Gentle wind carried these words of malice.

"Is it?" Sei simply replied. "We both knew this day would come."

"We sure have Seifuku." Makima didn't even turn around to look at her. "Time to put and end to this little crow and rat chase shall we?"

"I wouldn't have said it differently."
