-Rainy Night-

Sei opened her eyes and momentarily thought she had gone blind tho she did realize it was because it was night and the blinds were closed.... Or at least she hoped it was that since if it was not that then she was really blind.

Her head was pounding but she still sat up despite it getting worst while doing so, it would not kill her, something else would but not that.

She stood on some toothpick legs, she doubted herself staying on her feet for a moment but pushed past it and walked too the window with hand held up, grabbing the blind and pulling them apart, greeted with the neon lights of the city outside, alive and bustling bellow.

She sighed, wishing she could have another life, a normal, human, one.

She turned her back to it, eyes instantly zoning in to the difference present in the room.

"Why are you here?" She thought to herself as she walked over.

There was a little desk in this room now, with a pair of chairs, Quanxi insisted on it after she learnt of Cosmo and Sei's deal, it was so the other fiends wouldn't distract Cosmo who was ADHD personified by moments.

Those two chairs were now occupied by the one and only woman that bought them, holding her head up with a hand, legs crossed and set up on the other chair, sleeping like that, it almost made Sei believe it would be comfortable.

Somehow, she was aware there was trouble, Sei was sure of it, somehow Quanxi knew something was up, no other reason she'd be here.

The devil quietly walked too her bed and grabbed the blanket off it, extremely carefully covering the hunter with it before leaving the room.

She picked up a lighter and cig pack that was lying around knowing it wouldn't be missed because of the number of them scattered around the apartment.

Making her way too the roof, Quanxi would smoke in the building, that was not the reason why Sei chose leave, the fiends and the hunter would smell it and might wake up, she didn't want to steal their sleep time away even if her own was pulled short.

She almost laughed at the rain falling, the weather could have fooled her, it wasn't raining when she looked out the window.

She was in pants and a T-shirt only but she didn't feel the cold of the concrete on the soles of her feet or the chilling wind against her already soaked skin.

She walked too the railing and sat on it, legs thrown over it with her back towards the rooftop, it took a few tries to light the cig because the rain but smoke rose from it soon enough.

Now the streets were empty, only occasionally having a car drive by or a person hurry through.

She felt bad for worrying them, whenever things are going rather happily it turns out life is just playing a trick on her, missing when life was just simplicity and misery wasn't always chasing her because of who she was.

She sighed, wishing there was more to do but it was just a cat and mouse chase that would have an obvious winner.

A raven cried out.

"You shouldn't be up this early, much less in this rain."

She looked up from the streets.

"And you should still be sleeping... You are ruining the blanket." Sei said casually, looking at the same monotone expression Quanxi usually wore, the hunter holding the blanket over her head to cover herself from the rain and holding another part of it over Sei's head.

"It's just some water, it can dry."

"Did I wake you?" Sei asked, looking back ahead, blowing out a cloud of smoke.

"I can be a heavy sleeper but even so I'll wake up if something is amiss."

"Probably because of being a hybrid, I'll keep it in mind."

"You know you can't dance around the bush forever."

"I'll lay in it when I made the bed." Sei said, switching up the saying.

"Something is up with you Seifuku, why refuse to speak about it?"

"There is nothing wrong, it was just that devil's venom." She looked at the wraps on her hands, not showing she was surprised by her using her full name. "And it's Sei."

"Now." Quanxi tilted her head to the side. "I am not that stupid."

"You always said ignorance is bliss, keep too it."

"Not this time, not with you."

Sei didn't answer and the other woman didn't push her despite wanting to know just what was going on.... For a while at least.

"Seifuku." Quanxi's patience was large and here was this devil walking the thin edge where it would run out.

Not because she was annoyed or rude with her, it was more because of her silence and refusal to add on more.

Any normal human's arms would be shaking by now despite the blanket being light, holding it over both their head and at arms length tired the muscles out but Quanxi felt nothing, and even if she did, she didn't show it.

"I told you, it's Sei." The devil looked at her, flicking the consumed cigarette up in the air and off the building.

Quanxi watched her look away and aim down a finger gun.

"Bang." And the cigarette butt was shredded, blown to pieces by an unseen force, Sei was pushed a bit by the recoil.

Quanxi dropped one of her hands to grab her, hand behind her back, causing the wet cloth to stick too her back and rain to instantly drench her head as she let go of her part covering herself not the devil, still trying to keep Sei dry as much as she could.

"I was fine." Sei said, fixing her position on the railing.

"Why do you refuse to tell us? You made Pingtsi forcefully keep a secret, it was yet again after a morning you didn't want to eat on.... I don't know what's going on and I wish I did." Quanxi held the blanket still but didn't rise the part to cover herself again, only covering Sei.

"And I don't want you too!" Quanxi's eyes widened a bit as Sei yelled at her, she had always been mellow and smiling but she looked..... Furred brows, a glare in her eyes, chewing on her bottom lip.

"Sei...."

"I don't want to be a burden again, no matter what I've always been the unwanted one, the superfluous waste of a life... I can't have that happened again, I don't want that anymore."

Quanxi remained silent and the only thing that was heard was the rain pelting the concrete and glass city around them.

She moved to drape the drenched blanket around Sei, covering her head with it, it was not much because of how wet it was but it was still something.

Looping her arms around her in silence, leaning her chin on top of the devil's head, still saying nothing, just holding her.

The wet feathers of the crow weight it down, trapping it in the branches of the tree it inhabited and under which burrowed a little rat.
