Sei was up early, well more like she could barely sleep but it was nothing new, the eye bags basically a permanent addition too her face for many years now.
She decided to leave the room she hadn't slept in, to see if she had the right to make coffee, tea or something to drink.
"Hi!" She jerked back after opening the door, the Pingtsi girl almost like teleporting there, so fast.
"Halloween!" Cosmo popped up too.
"Hi?" She asked. "I thought you'd be asleep still." She admitted. "You know.... After the nightly activities."
"Nah, the work day starts at 6 most of the time, plus we are fiends."
"Alright.... And why are you here?" She rose a brow.
"Time for breakfast of course, so come along!" Pingtsi said as Cosmo grabbed her, both girls loving breakfast and knowing they couldn't eat until everyone was there or it wouldn't be polite. Dragging Sei after them both, each holding one of her arms.
The dinning table was pushed against the half wall separating the living room from the kitchen, Long was sitting on this little wall while the stitch girl, Tsugihagi, was sitting in the chair with her back to them, Pingtsi throwing herself into a chair along the long side and Cosmo making a dramatic scene about sitting down, leaving an empty seat between them where they pulled the devil down into, Quanxi sitting opposite of Tsugihagi and just watching the scene.
"Slept well?" Long seemed to be the most calm off the fiends that still spoke, the stitch fiend not having said a word since Sei and her met.
"Yeah, thanks, you?" Sei threw the question back at her.
"It is not cold in here, you didn't need to part from your blanket." Quanxi said, gaze in the pages of a newspaper she was reading.
"Eh." Sei shrugged. "Didn't want you to get cold anyway, it was raining, even with central heating, the temperature will be lower, plus Long stole the blanket you all shared."
"She always does that." Pingtsi complained, grabbing some of the food herself.
Sei watched them all eat, only serving herself a cup of peppermint tea since it is one of the most popular teas to treat stomach pain and nausea and that feeling persisted since the WC accident.
Just watching the others munch away on the breakfast was making her sick, her stomach churn, so she stared at the steaming liquid in her cup and tried ignoring what she was hearing.
She didn't want to be a killjoy so she didn't bring it up.
And just as fast as this started it was gone, she didn't even have time to finish half her drink that the fiends were done and spread out in the home, Pingtsi and Cosmo in the library room to play some board game piled on the shelves next to the books, Tsugihagi in front of the TV and Long having a cat nap on the bed despite waking up not long ago.
"You ate nothing." Sei looked up at Quanxi who was still sitting at the table but looking at her and not at the newspaper.
"You didn't either." She pointed at the empty cup that had contained coffee earlier. "I am just not hungry this morning, I don't always eat breakfast, the want comes and goes."
"Hmmm." She looked back at the newspaper. "Since no hunter has kicked down the door of my home yet I can assume the heads of this devil hunting operation see no opposition for you to stay here tho I think they won't hesitate to down you the moment you move away."
"I know." She said. "Tho I don't expect to stay here forever anyway."
"You'll just need to play along and help with devils for now, you can pay your part of the rent by working if you prefer it like that, you seem to be the type of girl to want that."
"You know too much." She smiled at her, these were the only moments Quanxi could see Makima in Sei, their smiles were the exact same but hers were warmer, softer, alive while the ones she remembered for Makima were fake, chilling, dead. "I would prefer that if I need to stay here."
"You don't need to but I am interested in you, take that however you want."
"I.... Will... Anyhow, how will I get paid? The bosses didn't seem to like me last time."
"We are partners by need, I prefer working alone but to ensure the girls' safety we work along with them if they don't touch us, technically you are now under the same protection, the girls also help me work, you could do that."
"You are awfully nice too me."
"I am just being amicable."
"Of course." Sei nodded.
"Plus you clearly are nothing like your sister."
"I look just like her."
"You hair, I thought it was because it was wet but it is darker then her light red, pinkish, color even now, eyes a clear difference, you look thinner then she was, paler, if someone takes the time they can tell you are not the same, plus a completely different personality if there for each other you two."
"Well.... Thanks..." She was not used to anything nice being said towards her so it made her feel awkward. "Is there anything to do today?" She asked, looking out the large window at the still raining down water, not seeming to be letting up.
"Yes, some devil." Quanxi glanced at the window too. "They are suspecting it to be causing this rain, so if we want it to stop we need to take it out, if it is not actually a devil well.... We just wait out the rain in the end but they are certain almost too 100% that it is one."
"Mhm." Sei just nodded along.
"This is beneficial for us both, I get to fulfill my interest and you get protection from the higher ups by being with me, you are a mystery I want to get to the bottom off so I want just you on this mission so I can see what you can do."
"You are blunt." Sei said, seeing the shrug. "But fine, can't be too hard."
