She.... Wasn't dead, that's for certain.

She still had her memories.

A devil, when killed, would remember dying but would have a completely new personality and Seifuku still felt like herself, still like Sei, hell she remembered her chosen name to blend in with humans so that was a tell in itself.

She felt something in the back of her throat, swallowing more by reflex then anything, to clear it up, before coughing on it.

"What the hell?" She hissed, grabbing her throat and flipping to her side, coughing some more.

"I wonder, devils always say my blood taste foul, just what's the actual taste of it?" A calm voice ask.

Sei picked her head up, surprised none of the scenery changed, still on the roof, still under the rain, still with those fiends and that hunter.

"It is not actually that bad but it just feels wrong, like the idea of eating a fermented fish eye, some people grew up with that as a delicacy but others vomit at even the sight of it. An aquired taste I would say." She offered an answer while wiping her mouth and sitting up. "Why?" She asked.

"I was not about to hurt any of my girls to heal you and this doesn't bother me, it was the better choice." Quanxi said with a bored look, showing the wrapped wrist, a light pinkish stain of the blood seeping through visible.

"That was not what I was asking." Sei groaned as she stood, healed but sore. "Why bring me back? You could have tempted fate and maybe killed Makima for good."

"Maybe." She shrugged, leaning on the railing of the roof with her back to it, having lit the cigarette a while ago if Sei can judge anything by the remaining length of it. "Maybe not.... And it was not purely my choice."

"Then who's?" She looked at where the hunter was pointing. "Her?"

"Well I mean you are not Makima and that means we made a mistake and well... Yeah." The dragon girl said.

"Since you aren't her, Long felt guilty for causing your almost death and wanted to help, I cannot say no too any of them."

"I'll never be her but do not feel bad, you bunch are not the first to try to kill me." She poked the bloody hoodie with a sigh, knowing it will be hard to get the stain out. "I had worst tho usually I am not faced with fiends and a devil hunter all at the same time."

"I also went along as you are saying a few very interesting things." The devil hunter added in. "Like how Makima would maybe die if you did and how her contract might save her."

"Ah that." She tilted her head. "I am much less secretive then her but I can't tell everything right away, I need to be sure I'll live, this info could be the only reason that I am still here and breathing."

"A bit counter productive if your death could kill her, she IS one of the most dangerous woman of this world."

"Trust me, or don't, but I know that and I can still be selfish." Sei leaned back against the railing, what else could she do, if she tried anything she would get chased again and maybe killed this time around and the hunter didn't seem to be in a rush. "I lived in her shadow for too long, she thinks her contract is enough to survive killing me but doubted it at the last second, which is why I am still alive and on the run." The hunter loosely held out a cigarette for her too as she lit a new one, Sei accepted without much thought behind the action.

"How cruel, your own sister wants your dead." The 'black hair with a face' fiend said, since Quanxi was calm they all were too Sei noticed, they must really actually love each other... She wished someone would at least like her, Kishibe alone not really feeling like that either.

"Such is life but I can't blame her in the end. It's just who I am." She said, tapping the cig in her palm before sticking it in the flame offered too her, it wouldn't hurt a devil the same it would a human so she didn't care, putting it in her mouth. "I just want to live free and not be bothered."

"Ignorance is bliss." Quanxi didn't ask but stated.

"It should be, not needing to care about everyone wanting me dead, having a normal life, away from all and if ignorance was the way to attain it then so be it." She leaned her head back, rain peppering her face as she watched the smoke cloud she blew out float away.

"You know Kishibe?" Came the question, she looked aside to see Quanxi holding up her phone and showing her the screen with a message from the old man on the screen from several minutes ago that read: 'Don't'.

"As if that one word would ever stop a hunter." Sei chuckled. "But yeah, he got me out of Japan incognito after Makima tried to kill me."

"Surprised she didn't kill despite the risks, she is much strongest then you, hearing all you are saying."

"The contract, it lets her be careless with her life as much as she wants while I don't have the same chance."

One of the fiends leaned in and whispered something in the hunter's ear.

"The girls say you smell of devil, that means she is one too."

"Mhm, the same devil to be exact, split into two bodies to limit its strength which is why if one died the other does too." She was long forced to keep quiet but she didn't care anymore, straightening her head up. "A contract with the Japanese government that every negative effect, mental like being drunk or physical like being shot, would be transferred to a random Japanese citizen as an injury or a wound of equal proportions as if nothing happened too her."

"That's why I couldn't injure her gravely in our last fight."

"Yeah."

"And you don't have that contract."

"Mhm."

Quanxi stopped asking questions for a while as Sei let her mind roam.

She never wanted to be part of this twisted game that was slowly killing her, she hated it.

She just wished she could escape from it.

"If you willing follow me to the Chinese bureau you might be able to get something in exchange, those people are ready to contract away as many lives as needed plus China is way bigger then Japan."

"And what if I don't follow willingly?"

"Then I'll be forced to drag you dead or alive at their feet and you'll either be terminated if you aren't already dead or turned into weapon for them."

"I've be a weapon long enough." She flicked the burning end of the cig off, holding the unlit portion she still had remaining in her palm, pushing off the railing. "Lead the way, I have nothing to lose."
