Julia felt anguish everywhere in her body. She opened her eyes and squinted due to how bright the light was. When she fully opened them, she recognized she was in a hospital bed, and then there were her parents and her younger brother, Pablo.

"Oh thank god, you're awake", her mom expressed worriedly and hugged her.

"What happened?" Julia asked.

The doctor explained what had happened and that she would need to remain in the hospital for four weeks to do all the necessary physical therapy and testing to ensure her well-being. The doctor told her she was fortunate to be still alive. He claimed that if she had hit the tree in any other way, she would not have survived. But she's not so sure with all the pain she's in. The reality of the crash seemed to sink in as the doctor continued talking, and she was in complete shock. She had never imagined being in a car accident until she was in one now, and she could not believe she was still alive after it. Her family started crying in her room, not leaving the hospital room once, making Julia worry even more. Her family was a family of love. They were like a strong pillar for her on which she could rely blindly anytime she required support. She loved them for that.

A few days later, Pedri came by. He told her family to go home and rest while he stayed the night taking care of her. He thought it was better that none of them was aware of their breakup. Pedri had felt very guilty and blamed himself for the accident because Julia wouldn't have been driving alone that day if he hadn't fought with her. He also missed her. He missed her touch. Her annoying him. He missed her staring at him like he was the only one. He missed her unexpected plans. He missed her when something good happened because she was the one he wanted to share it with. He felt guilty for putting her in that situation. Looking at her bruised and weak body, tears came because he knew it was his fault. Julia had been sleeping peacefully for hours now. But soon, he heard her mumbling something in her sleep, making him worried about her.

"No, please don't do this. I did nothing wrong- I'm sorry... AHHHHH"

The scenarios of the crash started to replay in her mind over and over again. He realized it was a nightmare. He tried to wake her up by shaking her a little, then hugged her to calm her down.

"You don't have to be scared. I am here." he said while protectively patting her head. She finally calmed down by clutching her hands on him and returned to sleep while Pedri held her in his arms. He admired her face for a while and put her back on the bed again.

The following day, she woke up to Pedri holding her hand, sleeping with his head on the bed. This was one of the million reasons why she loved Pedri. He left everything to spend the night with her, and how he cared so much for her that he let her family go home and rest. Everything he did for her never went unnoticed. She had no idea what she had done to deserve such a great person as him. She watched him until he woke up. He greeted her with "Good morning, princesa" and a kiss on the forehead, but she turned away. She questioned him why he was there because it was pretty clear he didn't want anything to do with Julia after that night. He apologized he was wrong, never intended for this to happen, and had just been frustrated and under a lot of pressure. She grew angry and realized it was true, but that didn't justify it.

"Pedri, those words don't just appear out of thin air. I travelled all that way to support you, yet you treated me like that," she remarked.

"I know. I completely mistreated you that day. I've been beating myself up for it. Heck it's my fault that you are even here. If I hadn't lashed out, you would be fine. I-"

She cut him off.

"Nothing would've changed what happened that evening, Pedri. No one, not you. He still would have been there. I'm glad I was only in that car that evening, and I'm not sure what would have occurred if my parents had also been in that car... You were right that night... that we should call it quits. Take some time from each other without interfering with each others choices..." she said while her voice broke.

Before her family arrived at the hospital, she told him to leave her alone, and he complied by leaving the room. He smiled dishonestly, extended a warm welcome to her family, told them he needed to go and hugged them goodbye after a few minutes of speaking.
