It was a warm day in May, and the sun was shining brightly through the windows of Julia's parent's living room. She had been trying to get a music book off the top shelf for the past five minutes, but the bookcase was just too tall for her. Frustrated, Julia looked around the room for something to stand on. That was when she spotted the janky old chair in the corner of the room. It wasn't the safest option, but it was all she had. Julia carefully climbed onto the chair and reached up towards the book.
Meanwhile, Pedri had just arrived at Julia's house to pick up Pablo for practice. However, when he walked into the living room, he found Julia struggling to get a book off the shelf, one leg in the air and the other barely balanced on the chair. Just as she was about to grasp it, the chair started to wobble beneath her.
"Need help?" He said with an amused smile. Julia's heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice, making her jump. She hadn't seen Pedri since they shared that kiss after Ansu's party. She was so focused on the book that she didn't realize the chair was about to give away. Julia stumbled and fell backwards, and just as she was about to hit the ground, she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck to keep her from falling.
They came so close that she could feel his breath fanning her skin. His alluring eyes travelled down her face, and his gaze got fixed on her lips. Pedri cupped her cheeks with his hands. She closed her eyes out of anxiety welling up in her chest. Her breathing became unsteady and uneven. He could sense her fear and nervousness. Pedri felt she might not be ready, so he did not want to rush again with her. He closed his eyes momentarily to control his desires and then placed a warm kiss on her cheek. There was a sea of sparks. She opened her eyes and looked at him.
"I didn't mean to startle you." he said softly. She quickly pulled away from Pedri and stumbled to get up from the floor. "It's okay," she said, trying to catch her breath. "I just didn't expect you to be there."
Pedri stood up and helped her to her feet. "Sorry about that," he said, still looking slightly embarrassed.
Julia shook her head. "No, it's fine. I'm just a bit clumsy, that's all."
Pedri smiled at her. "Well, let me get that book for you," he said, reaching up to grab it from the shelf. "What are you studying?"
"It's a music book," Julia replied, taking it from him. "I'm trying to learn some new songs on the piano."
They stood silently for a moment, both feeling the tension in the air. Pedri checked his watch. "I better go find Pablo," he said. "He's going to be late for practice if we don't leave soon."
Julia nodded. "Okay, well, it was nice talking to you."
"Likewise," Pedri said with a smile before leaving the room. Julia couldn't help but feel a little disappointed as he walked out. She had been hoping that something more would happen between them, but it seemed Pedri was just being friendly. Shaking off her thoughts, Julia sat at the piano and began playing. As the music filled the room, she forgot everything else and lost herself in the melody. But deep down, she couldn't help but think about how he had looked at her before and the warm kiss on her cheek. She didn't know how to interpret his actions, but it had definitely stirred up some feelings within her again.
