Chapter 35

Y/N pov

It has been a few weeks since the search for The Count has begun. The Task Force has worked tirelessly to find all of the leads. Capturing as many Hessians as they can.

"I'm heading to work princess." I called through as Wanda walked out of the bedroom. "I'll see you tonight."
I kissed her softly before heading out to my car.

The drive to the station was fairly quick. I was shocked to see Maria here too.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her as she hugged me.

"Well Director Fury wanted me to help with this case since it is the last gang." She smiled at me.

"Well this must mean we're getting closer to him." I smirked as she nodded.

Steve walked in and everyone sat down in their seats waiting for him to brief us.

"We have three possible locations." He said as he pointed to the map on the screen. "They're abandoned hotels. We have no idea which one he is going to be in but we will have to split into teams of three." He started to read off of a list. "Y/L/N, Hill, Sousa will take the one north. Bucky, Wilson and Carter will take the south. Terry, Jones and I will take the west. We move out immediately. Make sure your weapons are armed and vests are strapped tight."

Everyone scrambled to their and made their way to their lockers to get ready.

"Remember to watch each others six." Bucky called through as everyone nodded.

"Let's get this bastard." I said as I cocked my gun. We all made our way to our cars.

No ones pov.

Wanda and Nat were out shopping for clothes for the twins as the team was racing against time to get The Count in custody. They all had their own plan of action. They had their weapons and spare mags at the ready to take down any gang members in the way.

"Look at this one, it's so cute." Nat spoke when she held up matching romper suits for the twins. Both Nat and Wanda were buying everything they could carry. Neither caring about the price. 

"So how's Maria?" Wanda asked her best friend.

"She is amazing. She's working with Y/N today." Nat informed Wanda. "Something about being assigned to help take down The Count."

"That makes it less worry knowing that Maria will be there to watch Y/N's back." Wanda told her friend. 

"You worry about her?" Nat asked her. 

"All the time." Wanda said as they sat down in the restaurant. Having a break from shopping. "Ever since we were teens and she first got hurt, I have always been afraid that everytime she walks out the door and goes to work will be the last time I see her." 

"She has always come back to you Wanda." Nat told her softly as Wanda nodded in agreement.

"You're right. We didn't come this far just to lose it all." She said as they ordered their meals. 

Meanwhile, each of the teams approached their destinations with one goal in mind. Kill or be killed. That was how they had to play this. Each team of three breached their buildings. Weapons drawn ready for any sign of attack. 

"It's completely dark in here." Y/N spoke as she took point with Maria centre and Sousa picking up the flank. The three kept their eyes open as they adjusted to the darkness.

"Why didn't we get night vision goggles?" Maria asked the two.

"Because of a funding issue." Y/N informed her. "But don't worry, your eyes will adjust in a moment. Just trust your ears and other senses until then."  Maria just nodded as she walked behind. Y/N whispered a quiet stop as she heard footsteps ahead. Within the silence, a couple of gang members came out from rooms ahead and started to fire causing the three to take cover. They heard a grunt come from Sousa as he was shot in the shoulder. Both Maria and Y/N shared a look. 

"We're clear here." Steve spoke through the radio.

"Clear here too." Bucky spoke as Y/N and Maria continued to shoot as Sousa radioed in.

"You need to get Sousa out." Y/N told Maria. 

"You need to get him out." Maria shot back as they both fired. 

"You have a kid." Y/N told her as she changed her magazine. 

"You have two on the way." Maria told her.

"Can you stand Daniel?" Y/N shouted back. 

"Yeah." He replied as he held his shoulder. 

"When it is clear. You need to make it back to the car and call for back up." Y/N told him before she turned back to Maria. "There, neither of us are leaving." Maria just chuckled at her as she moved forward as Y/N covered her. They continued to make their way through the gang members who were on the lower floor as the others were racing through traffic to get there.

"I have heat signatures that the building is rigged." Peggy spoke through the radio. "The Count is also on the 7th floor, north west of the building." Both Y/N and Maria took the information in stride as they raced up the floors, shooting as many as they could before they reached the room with The Count.

"So you're the famous Y/N Y/L/N."
