Chapter 26

Wanda's pov

I was sat teaching my new class about the old kings and queens of the United Kingdom when Miss Lewis knocked on my door. I stepped away for a moment and followed her out into the hall and closed the door before Darcy spoke. 

"It's your wife. She is in St James's. Something about an accident at work." She told me and my heart dropped. I quickly ran inside and switched over with Miss Lewis as I ran to my car and drove as fast as I could into the city. Y/N was the only thing on my mind right now. I don't know the extent of her injuries because there is numerous injuries that she could get and most of them are fatal. As soon as I ran inside, I saw Bucky stood beside Peggy as Steve was scolding someone. I'm guessing that it's John, Y/N's new partner.

"Where is she?" I asked frantically as Bucky walked up to me and pulled me into his arms. 

"She is going to be fine Wanda. They're just doing surgery. The pressure of the bullet on the carotid artery has caused a blood clot and they need to break it down before it causes a pulmonary embolism." He told me as I could feel the tears starting to form. We have only just started to get into a better place. She has finally started to sleep in the same bed as me and now she is here. I had to tell Nat. She would kill me if I didn't so I decided to shoot her a text as well as Pietro because I know he will tell our parents.

"I don't care if you thought you were doing good. You have almost caused a good officer her life because of your stupidity." Steve shouted at John. 

"I didn't want to give him the chance to run away." He told Steve as Bucky, Peggy and I watched the whole argument. 

"She would have kept him talking. She is one of the best officers I have ever had the pleasure to work with and you almost cost her her life." He shouted as he took a step back and ran his hands through his hair. "You are off the Task Force. You will be suspended effective immediately and a final decision about you remaining on the force will be determined by a hearing with IA." Steve told him harshly. We all watched as John left the hospital as we all waited for what seemed like hours for a doctor to come and talk to us. I understand the procedure will be tricky and can take a very long time but I just need to know that she is ok.

"I came as fast as I could. Is she ok?" Nat asked as soon as she rushed over to us. 

"She is in surgery right now, we're still waiting to hear anything." I told her as I pointed to the doors behind us. 

"I'm sure she will be fine Wanda. It's not the first time she has been shot on the job." Bucky said with a soft smile. 

"I know. I remember she was shot in the shoulder." I reminded him as he just nodded which told me that that wasn't the only time. That explains most of the scars on her body. Before I could question him the doctor came out to us. 

"Mrs Y/L/N?" He called out as I turned around faster than Pietro hearing extra nuggies. 

"That's me." I spoke up as I walked up to them with Nat right behind me. "Is she ok?"

"She is going to be just fine. We managed to breakdown the clot and now she is out of the woods. It's just the stitches in her neck and the surrounding area will be irritable but it is important that she doesn't scratch it." He told me as I sighed out in relief. 

"Can we see her?" I asked him as he nodded and led us to her room. She was peacefully sleeping. I sat in the chair beside the bed and Nat was opposite. I couldn't help but cry a little as I could have lost her. I couldn't lose her. Not ever. 

"Hey." We heard her croak out as my eyes snapped up to see her smiling at me. "My princess." She whispered as she reached her hand out to cup my cheek.

"I was so worried that you weren't going to make it baby. I don't know what I would do if I lost you. You are everything to me." I told her as she smiled at me. 

"May I request a kiss my fair lady?" She smirked at me making me laugh before I leaned down and kissed her softly. I smiled at her as she kept her eyes closed savouring the moment. 

"I love you." I told her as she opened her eyes. They sparkled with happiness. 

"I love you too princess." She whispered before she kissed me again. I have missed this closeness that we have back. She is my home. My life would end if she weren't in it.
