'Are you sure you're going to be okay by yourself?''Yes, mum.' I responded while packing the last few things for my trip. 'I'll be just fine.' I looked at her, reassuring myself more than her.
Truth is, I was heartbroken that I had to separate from her. She always wanted the best for me, and now that I got it, I wasn't so sure that I wanted it anymore. I wanted to wake up in the mornings and go down and have a coffee with her and talk about the latest events. Not wake up in a different country, with only a phone keeping us close.
'Alright, this is everything.' I said smiling faintly.
'Oh, I'm so, so proud of you.' she walked towards me and hugged me as tight as she could.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry.
'This is exactly what you deserve. This is what you've been waiting for.'
Don't cry.
'And we'll be just fine. It's your turn to live your life.'
'I love you.' I said quietly.
My mum took a step back and looked at me, showing a small smile. 'I love you.'
'Come on, the car is almost here.' Alexa barged into the room. 'You don't want to be late.'
Making my way downstairs, I couldn't help but smile.
This was it. There's no way out now.
'Look, I'll call you almost everyday in case you forget, so you can tell me about all the cuties that you'll see. We've had this conversation before, stay away from
Kylian.' Patricia, my younger sister told me.'I told you, I'm not going there to find love. You can keep your Kylian.'
'Good.'
We both laughed and started hugging. Even though she was 7 years younger than me, she was very mature for her age. We'll talk about everything and anything, without being afraid she's going to snitch or judge me in any way.
My eyes shifted to my two nephews. 'Now...' I said while crouching down. 'I need you two to be good, okay? You got to listen to your mum otherwise I'll be really, really upset.' they both looked at me, shaking their heads as a "yes".
I hugged the two little boys tightly, wishing I could just take them with me. 'I'm going to miss you loads.'
'I love you.' they both said at the same time.
Bringing myself back up, I went straight for a three way hug with my older sister and brother in law.
'You take care of yourself.' he said.
'I will.'
'Ah, I'm going to miss you so much.' Alexa said.
When we were younger we never really saw eye to eye, however now we were pretty inseparable.
'You better bring home a football player.' she said laughing.
'I can't promise you that.' I responded chuckling.
'He's outside.' mum said.
I quickly grabbed my suitcases and walked out the door. The driver helped me put them in the booth and opened the door for me to enter.
With one last look at my dear ones, I smiled and mouthed 'I love you!'
'Bye!' , 'Have a safe flight!' , 'Call us when you get there!'. they all said, waving at me.
'Thank you, I will! Bye!'
And with that I got into the car and left behind what i called for so long home.
