It's been a week since we've been back. Well, since we've all been back, apart from Neymar, who ended up going to Brazil with Caro and Davi to visit her family.
Tomorrow was officially my last day at Paris-Saint German. But that was the last of my worries right now.
I was sat in Neymar's garden on the couch, the lights from the pool being the only thing lighting up the area. He was on his way home, and I was patiently waiting.
'Oh, how good it feels to be home.' he appeared from inside the house, leaning in to give me a kiss but I moved my head back. 'What's wrong?'
I couldn't look at him. I didn't even know how to start the conversation. I was... heartbroken.
'You lied to me.' I said quietly, not looking at him.
'What?' he asked, and even though I couldn't see him, I knew his eyes were piercing me.
'You lied to me.' I said sternly, standing up, finally my eyes meeting his.
'What are you talking about?'
'Why did you go to Brazil, Neymar?'
'I already told you.' he said taking a step towards me, but he only made me take one back. 'Caro and Davi we-'
'The real reason.' I said cutting him off.
'I don't know what you're talking about.' he said not breaking the eye contact.
'It's funny, you know...' I smiled softly. 'Because Caro called me and she had no idea she was meant to see her family. Her and Davi never left for Brazil, Neymar.' I said taking a step towards him. 'So what's the real reason?'
He didn't say anything, his eyes now looking down and no longer into mine. Tears started forming in my eyes, but I was trying my hardest to fight them.
I didn't want him to see me cry. And I didn't want him to be the reason for my tears.
I let out a nervous chuckle and sat back down on the couch. 'Please tell me it's not what I think it is.' I said looking at him with pleading eyes. 'Please.' I said quietly.
How pathetic.
'It was nothing.' he said after a few minutes. 'I... I just...' he took a deep breath. 'Bruna, she—'
His words started fading for me, not being able to focus on anything anymore. Bruna Biancardi. His ex-girlfriend. No, his ex-fiancé. There's been a few talks about the reasons why she started liking his pictures again, but I brushed them off. I didn't want to believe it. But it all happened after his birthday, the night he mysteriously vanished. I tried to brush it off, but I couldn't anymore.
And maybe it was better for him to break my heart, rather than me doing it after he finds out I'll be returning to London.
I stood up, facing him one more time. 'Is she the reason you vanished on your birthday?'
No answer.
'I need to know, Ney...' I said shaking my head. 'Is she?'
He nodded his head, not looking at me.
'Okay...' I said quietly, every part of me wanting to jump in that pool and drown.
'It meant nothing.' he said trying to grab my hands but I moved back. 'Irina... she called and I only went to make it clear that what happened on my birthday was a mistake.'
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.
'You lied to me too.' he said sternly, my eyes instantly meeting his.
