Jane heads over to alyssa's dorm in the middle of the night because she left her sweater there when she was giving alyssa tuition.
November 4, 3:00AM:
The scent of lavender brought about by the dimly lit candles that sat beside Alyssa's desk swirled around the room. Though it was early in the morning, Alyssa found herself slouched at her desk, drawing anime characters on the back of her English worksheets. She'd look over tiredly at the alarm clock that sat on her desk, able to make out that the time was 3:00 am, the devil's hour. Though Alyssa would not consider herself a spiritual person, her roommate Moon would say otherwise. Moon had always been freaked out about the voodoo dolls that Alyssa had once displayed on her shelf, now hidden away in her luggage. The seances she'd hold occasionally would drive Moon mad. Alyssa would remember how Moon would face the wall, shaking in fear when she'd bring out her doll to play. Due to Moon's irrational fear of the paranormal and spirits in Alyssa's opinion, she'd put a stop to all these rituals in the middle of the night, at least her friend could get her beauty sleep.

Alyssa jolted out of her thoughts, wondering where the knocking came from. She'd stay silent.
Knock, knock
There it was again, the sounds coming from the front door of the dorm. Alyssa got up from her chair, inching closer to the door. It could not have been a spirit, she hasn't held a seance in a few months now.
Knock, knock
Who could be up at such an inauspicious hour?
Alyssa quickly opened the door, looking downwards to avoid direct eye contact with the spirit.
"Why are you looking down?" Jane questioned, staring down at the petite girl.
Alyssa was startled. Thank god it wasn't a spirit, it was just Jane...She'd take a moment to breathe before realising, was her hair okay? Her pajamas were crumpled and her hands stained with graphite from drawing, she was a mess. How could she let Jane see her like this? Alyssa's eyes darted around the floor before looking up at Jane. Her cheeks were slightly flushed as she fiddled with her hair to calm her nerves.
"Uh, Jane what brings you here?" Alyssa asked awkwardly. Why would Jane take her time to come down to see her in the middle of the night? The stairwell was eerie and dark, not everyone would dare going outside this late. It must've been something important. "Would you like to come in?" Alyssa flashed a soft smile at Jane, Jane replied with a nod.

Upon entering the room, Jane was engulfed by the calming scent of lavender, taking a deep breath in. Meanwhile, Alyssa would notice how her room looked like the remains of a magnitude 5 earthquake. Her art supplies were spreaded out all over the floor, her pillows seemed to be anywhere other than her bed. Alyssa felt embarrassed by how messy her dorm was and how Jane would be seeing all of this. What would she think of her? Alyssa's face reddened.
"I think I left my sweater here a few days ago when I came over to tutor you." Jane finally broke the silence, eyes searching for her sweater.
Ah, so that's what Jane was after. Alyssa put on her flip flops and slightly wobbled towards her wardrobe, pulling out a freshly ironed green sweater, the scent of lavender lingering. She'd gently place the sweater on Jane's hands.
"This is your sweater, right?"
"Yeah, thanks Alyssa." Jane awkwardly made an attempt to flash Alyssa a tight yet quick smile as her face quickly shifted back to being expressionless. "I'll be off now, thank you." Jane exclaimed as she walked out the door, leaving Alyssa frozen still, her heart doing flips.
Jane had never thanked her this way before. Alyssa would replay the scene over and over again like some sort of fake scenario, hugging one of her black laced pillows. The smell of lavender heavy in the air, a scented candle gifted by her mother to provide calmness in her room. But, whenever she thought of Jane, her heart skipped. Why?

As Jane walked up the dark spiral stairs, she'd hold the sweater close to her, inhaling the soft sweet smell of lavender. The smell that reminded her of comfort and peace, warmth, and somehow...it reminded her of Alyssa.
