~Charlotte's POV~

"Take the form back now." Charlotte yelped, dashing towards Willow's laptop as she reached for the cancel button. Sent, it stated. The word seemed to have caused a malfunction in her nerval system as she froze in an awkward position, her right hand on the keyboard as her body stretched over the wooden chair with her legs spread apart. It was as if a spell had been casted as reality dawned upon her, her eyes grew dull.

"What's with the strong reaction? You did well in the interview." Willow folded her arms, she wasn't going to lose a potentially good club member that easily.

"No..." Charlotte muttered under her breath, it was like bad news had hit her. Chris watched her facial expression, gazing at how her blonde hair had seemed to fall flat on her disappointed face.

"I think I know what's up." Maddie sat up as she circled Charlotte cheekily, she looked confident in her answer as she smirked. "It's about the one and only Chris!" She stopped dead in her tracks as she pointed at Chris who jumped back a little from the sudden movement.

"What about him?" Willow asked, her eyes moving from Maddie to Chris. Charlotte looked at Maddie, unable to say a word as she stared down at her fingers.

"I'm sure we all know what happened at the party with Emily and Stephanie, it was pretty funny to be honest." Maddie taunted as she continued circling her as she grinned, hoping to get a reaction from the mysterious new girl. "Now that she's in the same club as Chris, everyone's going to think that it's a confirmation. It's that simple." Maddie shrugged her shoulders proudly before staring down at Charlotte. Oh she was excited to see what would happen next.

"A confirmation of what?" Willow snapped, she was annoyed that Maddie was beating around the bush as she harassed Charlotte. Willow knew that Maddie was infatuated with Chris and picked on anyone who got in her way. Aside from the thrill of arguing, it was clear that the second reason was because Chris was in the club.

"A relationship." Charlotte looked Maddie in the eye with a stone cold expression, challenging her. "When people get to know of my involvement in the debate club, they'll think that I joined because of Chris and because of that, more idiots will pick on me." She locked eyes with Maddie. "Isn't that what you want?"

Maddie looked taken aback by the challenge and wit, people usually didn't want to argue with her, fearing that they'll get hurt by her harsh critique. "Of course not." Maddie peered over Charlotte's shoulder. "It would've been interesting though." She eyed Chris up and down before looking at the stern Charlotte.

"The form can't be undone, right?" Charlotte asked, ignoring Maddie's taunts. She could see her frown at the lack of receptiveness in her mocking, Charlotte had won and smiled a little. Willow had looked at her laptop screen before shaking her head. It couldn't be undone. "It doesn't matter now, I'll be joining the debate club." She spoke with assurance and confidence, something that Chris had secretly admired of her all this time. "But first if you excuse me, I need a moment with Chris." She grabbed Chris by the arm before dragging him out of the room.

"Wha-" Maddie frowned, she was unusually irritated by this, feeling like she'd just lost a game. She was about to grab the door to follow them before Willow blocked her.

"Guys, I finished making a gingerbread castle." Jane suddenly spoke out, proud of her accomplishment as she wore her green sweater.

"Since when were you here?" Maddie placed her arms on her hips, studying Jane. "It looks lame anyway."

"Charlotte, slow down." Chris whispered, trying not to draw any attention in the library. Charlotte was moving so quickly that he could feel his legs dragging against the marble floor of the library, walking past endless aisles of bookshelves with a faint smell of parchment that lingered the air.

Before he knew it, Charlotte yanked him over to a book aisle where nobody could see them. "Uhm, why am I here?" He asked, looking down at her.

Charlotte seemed to look around for any passerbys before asking ,"Have you taken care of the rumours?" Her voice sounded a little anxious though she tried covering up with a tone of certainty, her blue eyes locked with his as she sat down on the cold marble floor.

"I've texted Emily to tell her that what she did was not cool." Chris started, mocking the voice of a lecturer as he sat down opposite Charlotte. "I've also told my sister and her gang to keep an eye out for you, she's quite popular around here so...you should be safe around her?" He nodded, finding sense in what he'd just said.

Charlotte on the other hand looked dazed as she raised her eyebrows. "You sound really assuring." She replied sarcastically as she folded her legs into a criss-cross sitting position.

"Charlotte, you may think highly of me but I can't control rumours." Chris sneeringly replied as he tilted his head upwards, staring at the rows and rows of books on the aisle.

"I actually think that pretty lowly of you." Charlotte folded her arms, it was clear that she was annoyed by how lightly Chris was handling the situation. "By the way, you owe me after the fruit punch incident." She squinted her eyes, curious to what Chris would reply with.

"I will get you lunch everyday for uh...6 months, starting from today onwards." He quickly promised, before looking sorrowfully at his wallet. He could see thousands of dollars flash across his eyes.

"6 months?!" Charlotte gasped, covering how mouth. "That'll save me a lot of money." She laughed. This was one of the first times Chris saw her genuine laugh, it felt nice to see her like this. "What else? When I get into debate club, rumours are going to spread." Charlotte bargained, a sly smirk grew from the corners of her lips.

"Wha-another one?" Chris shrieked before calming himself, seeing how a slight chuckle escaped Charlotte's lips at that expression. "I'll get my bros to help soften the rumours for you." He rolled his eyes. Charlotte's eyes seemed to have lit up.

"We should be heading back now or rumours will start." Chris sneered before pushing himself off the ground, walking towards Charlotte. "Do we have a deal?" He reached his hand out to Charlotte. He watched as her gaze shifted from his eyes to his hand as her head tilted downwards.

"Deal." She grabbed onto his hand tightly which lifted her off from the chilled ground, quickly releasing it when she was on both feet, tidying her black skirt before they walked back to the Debate room.
