Rain sat at the table, his heart fluttering nervously as he stared down at the leaflet in his hand.

The glossy brochure printed in Arial font wasn't just paper with information about the Architecture Open House to him. It represented his dream for the future. A dream he had for a while now of studying architecture so that he could design homes and buildings for people to live and work in.

He also had a secret dream of someday building a beautiful house for his parents, especially his mom, whom he adored, but also for his own family.

The vision of this future family was still vague. A wife, kids, -maybe two, or three? A daughter, a son, the third....anything is fine! Since he was an only child, he had always pictured a future in a big home filled with warmth and laughter.

Getting to this point hadn't been easy for him. Staying focused on one thing was always a challenge. He had worked hard to get grades in high school, grades that were good enough to be selected for this program. But he still had to pass the entrance exam in 2 months and then GRADUATION!!

He and the others who were here for the Open House had completed the tour of the university and now he had a break as he waited for the Architecture Faculty session to begin in an hour and a half.

This would be his chance to meet some of the professors, hear stories from the alumni about their experiences, and maybe meet some other hopeful candidates who would be his future friends if he was lucky enough to get in here.

He was here today with his high school classmate and friend who was applying to the Science Faculty.

It was quiet in the hallway where he was sitting, so he read through the brochure again, not even realizing that he had just scribbled his longing on the page "I must pass. I must be an Architecture student!"

His friend ran over excitedly and begged him to go to the Science Open House since he was nervous to attend alone. Even though Rain had plenty of time to accompany his friend, he was enjoying sitting quietly and daydreaming about the future.

His friend looked at him with pleading eyes, so he reluctantly allowed himself to be pulled along. Rain couldn't say no, he loved making others happy and helping them when he could, which made him a good friend to have.

He grabbed his backpack distractedly and followed his friend. When they got to the sign-in table for the Science Faculty, he suddenly remembered the pencil case he had left behind at the table. He gave his friend the heads up and ran back to collect the case before someone threw it away.

As he neared the area where he had been sitting, he saw a figure standing over the same table. Rain wasn't sure what made him pause instead of running ahead to claim his case, but he became curious as to what the man would do next.

Something was captivating about him that made Rain pause and watch.

The man had broad, straight shoulders covered in a white cotton shirt that was the uniform of choice for the male students at the university. There was nothing unique about his clothes, but the way the fabric clung to his muscular back and the way the sleeves were rolled up to reveal the sinews and veins on his arms made it seem like it was a custom fit to highlight his physique.

Rain swept his eyes lower, not consciously realizing how thoroughly he was checking this guy out.  The lower part of his body was covered in tight black jeans that hugged his strong thighs and perky butt like a second skin.

He didn't have the air of the typical happy-go-lucky college student. He had an intensity about him that set him apart and made him seem a bit more mature.

Maybe it was the jet-black hair pulled into a bad-boy half ponytail that gave him this vibe, but there was also an energy about him that reeked of self-confidence.

Rain now noticed the black storage tube slung over his shoulder. This phi must be an Architecture student, he thought excitedly.

The man was staring down at the items left on the table.

He turned his face slightly and Rain drew in his breath as he saw his face more clearly.

He picked up the brochure and read what was written. A small smile flitted across his lips.

The man pulled out a pen and wrote something on the brochure. He smiled to himself as he gently stroked the paper before putting it down.

He then opened his backpack, took something out, and placed it on top of the forgotten items. He lined everything up neatly, revealing his penchant for discipline and organization, and strolled away toward the stairs.

Rain came out of his stupor as he watched the man walk away.

He ran to the table and looked down at the neatly stacked items.

On top, there was now an architectural triangle that hadn't been there before.

Rain pulled out the brochure curious to see what he had written.  In bold, neat handwriting, there was a message that said, "I wish you the best of luck" underneath the wish that he had scribbled.

Clearly, the passerby had taken time to read his note and left these tokens as motivation for an unknown high school student. His kindness and show of support made Rain feel warm and touched.

Rain took a deep breath to steady his fluttering heart and realized he had dawdled too long. He quickly scooped up all the items and ran back to rejoin his friend.

Rain sat in the session, but his mind was still engrossed with the person he had just seen. He couldn't get the thought of him out of his head. If he was being honest, he had never had someone make such an immediate, strong impression on him before.

The man seemed god-like with his muscular body, his perfectly sculpted jawline, and his long hair pulled back into that bad-boy ponytail.

But even more than his physical attributes, there was something about his aura that Rain found spellbinding.

Rain chalked his reaction up to admiration. It wasn't necessarily the same kind of admiration that he felt towards beautiful girls in his school, it felt different.

It was a more primal pull toward something that he could not put a name to as he had never experienced anything like it in his 18 years.

It was probably just emotions stirred up by being at a college campus for the first time and looking ahead to adulthood. Yes, that was it. He was just overwhelmed with all the excitement and hopes of the day.

Rain clutched the triangle to his heart -like a talisman of good fortune that would make his dream come true. He knew getting in was not going to be easy. This was a competitive program and he had to beat other top students from around the country to earn a spot.

He caressed the items in his hands with renewed commitment.

I WILL DO THIS!!

Rain's secret power was his sheer determination and stubborn will.

Whenhe wanted something he went after it with everything he had.

He wanted this now more than ever....
