This should have been the happiest, most exciting part of his summer break, but anxiety was the overriding emotion that was riding him the past few days.

He had been putting this off for weeks.

Phayu had been very supportive, not pushing him, and always there when he needed. He had told him that he shouldn't do it for anyone else, but to do it when he was ready.

They planned on taking a trip together before the summer break ended. Phayu wanted to reward him for working so hard during the school year and the past few weeks and let him relax before Sophomore year started. He knew how hectic and demanding it was going to be, so he wanted to escape with Rain - just the two of them - and spend time together doing whatever they wanted.

But Rain didn't feel right going on the trip without telling his parents that he was dating Phayu. The 'secret' hung over his head, making him anxious.

He wanted to be honest and tell them about their real relationship. He felt guilty misleading them about being just a Junior and Senior.

But he had no idea how he was going to do it.

Did he want Phayu there? Did he want to talk to his parents alone? He wasn't sure.

His parents already admired Phayu and appreciated all that he was doing for Rain so that part wouldn't be an issue. But would their feelings change if they knew he was his boyfriend?

What if they forbade him to see Phayu? What would he do then? Knowing his parents, he didn't think they would do that, but this was unchartered waters. He wasn't sure how they would react.

Rain didn't want to keep his feelings a secret from the people that he loved the most. He was proud to be with Phayu and didn't want to hide it any longer.

Phayu truly understood him. He indulged him, encouraged him, and supported him. He had even proved the depth of his love by allowing Stop to do all those horrible things to keep Rain from being hurt.

Even though they had only been together a short time, there was no way he could live without Phayu now. He loved him too much and needed him like he needed air.

If his parents were disappointed because he was in love with a man, well he would deal with it when the time came. But there was no option where he was willing to be apart from Phayu.

If his father had taught him anything, it was to fight hard for something that he wanted and to see things through. He had always admired his dad for his strength and determination, he could only hope that he had learned something from him in all this time.

Any fear he had about what his parents would say or what may happen in the future was overridden by the certainty of his feelings.

So he needed to man up and figure out how he wanted to do this.

As he thought more about it, he realized that he wanted to tell them on his own.

If they were unhappy, he didn't want them to take it out on Phayu and he knew without a doubt that Phayu would step in to protect him from their anger or disappointment.

No, he needed to do this on his terms. So he had told his parents that he would be back home tonight in time for dinner.

Phayu dropped him back at his house in the late afternoon, looking worried as he pulled the car over. "Are you sure you don't want me to be there? I can be with you when you tell them."

Rain smiled reassuringly, pushing aside all the anxiety that was building inside of him. "Yes, I think it's better if I tell them on my own first."

They had talked this plan through before, so this wasn't news to Phayu. He was as anxious as Rain about the uncertain outcome.
