25: DragCity THE EPIPHANY

A/N: It's Race Time! As I started writing this scene I realized that SO MUCH happens at the DragCity Race which is a setup for the remainder of the story.

So instead of one big-ass chapter with new characters and a lot going on, I broke them up into 5 little snackable DragCity chapters that are each a specific moment of the story. So please🙏 forgive the shortness of each (the first- this one - is super short🫣) but hopefully it makes it easier to absorb all the drama surrounding the race!

RAIN'S EPIPHANY

There is always a point in a relationship, when you look back, that everything changes.

For Rain, it was the night of the DragCity Race...or should he say both times that he attended the DragCity Race.

The first point was the night he got his ass spanked....well, when he got his ass spanked unwillingly, Rain thought with a soft giggle. If it wasn't for that night, he wasn't sure where his relationship with Phayu would be.

Phayu didn't remember that it was him the night of the tire change. Rain hadn't told him, so Phayu still thinks they first met at the Mixer. And even though Phayu hunted him down at the University and did whatever it was that he did in the bathroom stall (whew!!)....they may still not be together if he hadn't crashed the race.

The second point was earlier tonight when he attended the race as an official guest. It was a night of many firsts.

It was the first time Phayu publicly introduced him as his boyfriend outside of their little inner circle bubble of Saifah, Sky, Prapai, and the garage.

It was the first time, he saw the side of Phayu that fit so easily into the darker, grittier bike racing world.

It was also the first time that Rain realized that he needed to step it up in their relationship and become more of an equal to Phayu.

Maybe because of his age or maybe because of who he was, Phayu had always been the "grown-up" in their relationship, taking the lead in setting the pace, being the caretaker, and treating Rain like a precious treasure by fulfilling his every emotional and physical need.

While Rain loved that (really loved it), he saw tonight that Phayu also needed someone to take care of him. Someone to notice when he was angry, sad, or hurt.

It was the first time Rain felt like he could also be a grown-up and give Phayu the care and attention he needed. An equal partner that could become his lover's comfort zone.
