Kaneki Ken x Reader- The Relentless Battle

Infiltration

Night fell, and it was time to put Kaneki's plan into action. All together there were fifteen ghouls and one human.

As everyone loaded up into the cars, Kaneki made it a point to find you, he wanted to keep you by his side as much as he could. You were about to get into the car with Ayato, when Kaneki found you and stopped you.

"Y/N, wait, I uhh, I wanted you to ride with me, be my passenger."

You looked at him as he grabbed a hold of your hand. He was physically touching you, something he never does. It felt cold at first, but then quickly warmed up. Kaneki's eyes went wide, "Y/N, please come with me!" Kaneki yelled in desperation suddenly. 

"She warmed me right up, she is my...my soul mate, I can't let her slip away from me."

You looked at Kaneki, but then you looked back at Ayato, this was the whole point of your plan. You had to be "left behind" in Ayato's car so you could sneak off together and complete your personal mission. You really wanted to go with Kaneki, you heart felt as though it was being torn in half. You just didn't have the guts to tell him the truth about the pills you need and why. You took a deep breath, and thought for a few seconds what to do. Your mind was racing, so many emotions filling you up, all of this was new and confusing to you. Despite all of this, your mind forced you to choose, so, you opened your mouth to tell Kaneki when Touka came up behind Kaneki slipping her arm through his, "Hey I'm riding in your car let's go Ken..." she said playfully.

You paused answering him and pulled back from him and went more towards Ayato.

"Don't worry, looks like you got your hands full with that dumbass hanging onto ya"

"Ugh Ayato!" Touka yelled.

He laughed, "Don't worry boss, I'll take good care of her."

He looked at you, he really looked at you, hoping you would read between the lines. But you didn't, that concept for you was far from what you understood so far. You took this for what it looked like, which is that they very possibly got back together.

You let go of Kaneki and went towards Ayato.

"I'll see you there boss, take care of my sis"

Kaneki looked at you shattered, he knew at that moment he fucked up with you. Things are moving so fast, Ayato had you in his grasp and was walking you along, and Touka was pulling Kaneki to follow her back to the car. Everyone was waiting on him, everyone was anxious to get this started, and everyone was worried about the human Kaneki made everyone swear to protect at all cost.

Because of this he let you go, and you chose to take on this battle by yourself, he had done everything for you. All you did was cause him more problems, you wanted to prove to him you can do things on your own... generally speaking, cuz technically you got Ayato's help but it didn't involve him and that's what mattered to you.

You got in Ayato's car as his passenger. You felt nothing but emptiness, you felt like everything that shaped who you are now was Kaneki, and he's gone now.

"Fuck and here I was trying to play nice with Touka after she threatened to take half the people with her based on loyalty. She agreed to stay as long as I would be her main partner on this mission. "Just like old times" she phrased it." He thought as he started the car and drove off.

Everyone followed along, arriving to the destination it took about forty minutes. Everyone split up into teams of fives, Ayato's team was on the opposite end of his, so there was no chance of seeing you again before everyone went in.

"Dammit" Kaneki said to himself.

Kaneki gave the signal for everyone to proceed, each team had a commander, Ayato's happen to be Ayato. He talked to the second in command and told him ahead of time he would disappear as soon as Kaneki gave the signal and he was in command. He said don't ask any questions, don't snitch, and don't fuck up. If he could do this he'd give him whatever he wanted.
