Jenna's POV
There is a feeling of dread in my stomach, a feeling that is undeniable. The producers called me and China both and told us about mandatory bonding for the next week. This feels different than when we chose to do it ourselves. It feels forced, and I can also sense China's discomfort. She still calls me once a day, but the conversation is getting shorter and shorter. For one, she is also shooting another movie, but usually we would at least have a decent conversation. It feels like she is avoiding me a little. I was supposed to see her the day she flew back to LA, but she never showed up. She sent me some excuse that sounded like bullshit. Tomorrow we are hanging out because, you know, it's, um, mandatory, but she is bringing her sister. It feels like she doesn't want to be alone with me. I have been watching my phone every minute of the day hoping she would text me, but when she does, I kinda don't want to read it. Today I have to go to the studio and meet with her and the producer to talk about this mandatory bonding even more in depth.
Maybe this love interest thing wasn't the best idea. I have to get up, get dressed, and get ready to head to the studio. After I got dressed, I decided to snap a picture and send it to China. I guess it's just because. After sending the message, I grab my keys and head out the door. Getting into my car, I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I grab it and see a message from China. When I open the message, I see she only sent a bunch of heart eyes. The loading icon appears on my screen, and I guess that means she sent something that's still loading. I sit my phone down on my lap and silently wait for whatever to load. The picture finally loaded, and I froze. Yeah, maybe this was a bad idea. After seeing that picture of her, I knew exactly how hard this movie role was going to be. She looked as gorgeous as ever, and now I have to see her in person. I decided to put my phone down and head to the studio. After the short drive there, I noticed that the producer was literally waiting outside. He had a packet of papers in his hand as he signaled for me to follow him into the building. As I did, I noticed China's car pull into the parking lot. I froze. That same feeling of dread rushed over me. I stopped dead in my tracks as China stepped out of the car. The producer noticed, followed my eyes, and noticed China.
"It's great to see you both here."Let's wait for her to catch up." The producer said he leaned up against the door. I smiled at him as China started walking towards us. She had her head down to the ground to probably avoid looking at me. The producer noticed this and smirked at me. Oh God, this can't be good. China made it over to us and finally looked up, but not at me. She had her eyes locked on the producer.
"Follow me, ladies," he said as he opened the door for both of us. I let China walk in first, and she smiled slightly at me. Is that fear I see in her eyes, or am I just losing my mind? We walked into the office area of the studio and took our seats across from the producer.
China's POV
I would be lying if I said I wasn't a nervous wreck. When Jenna sent me that picture earlier, I didn't know what to say. As a result, I simply sent the heart eyes. I never received a response to the picture I sent back to her. Maybe I'm overreacting, but that stung a little. On my way to the studio, I could only think about that one situation. I avoided looking at Jenna until we got into the office, and then I had no choice but to open up. Jenna looked so uncertain, and I'm not sure what that is exactly about.
"So ladies. As you know, this week you two will start mandatory bonding. This includes many things to make your relationship look real. "But I do say you two are doing a great job at the moment because it looks like both of you want to get up and run away." The producer was still smirking at us. As a result, Jenna and I both looked at each other at the same time. Our kiss flashed back in my mind, and I felt myself starting to feel things I couldn't explain.
"Well, China has been really busy. "I'm certain she is just tired." Jenna says as she looks over at me. I don't know why, but that felt like a jab to my heart. Was she mad that I didn't show up yesterday?
"Yeah, I have been busy. But can we get on with this?" I said, then glanced at Jenna. She gave me a weak smile, but her eyes looked hurt. Maybe this love interest role wasn't the best idea.
"Okay, first things first. "Tonight will be your first official date night," the producer said, and Jenna and I both looked at him like he grew two heads.
"Umm tonight?" Jenna said as she turned to face me. I was starting to sweat badly on my hands from nervousness. Jenna noticed this and lightly touched my leg, bringing some comfort to me.
"Yes. We've planned a romantic dinner for you two tonight. Then you two will go see the lights, and to top it all off, in the next three days, you and China will be going on a romantic getaway for three days." the producer paused for a second. "China, don't worry, we already cleared this with the producer of your other movie."
"Ok." was all I could manage to get out of my mouth. Three days alone with Jenna I knew that, we would have to spend time together, but not like this. The producer kept going on and on, but I wasn't paying attention. What had my attention was the fact that I felt Jenna grab my hand and squeeze it. She never looked away from the producer, but she was holding tightly onto me.
"Shouldn't we be hanging out and getting to know each other the simple way?" "You know normal building chemistry?" Jenna said, her hand still entwined with mine.
"Well, there is no need to build chemistry when it's already there." "Now you just need to act on it." He said this as he handed Jenna a piece of paper with our reservation information written on it. His words echo in my head: "There's no need to build chemistry when it's already there."
It's official, though I'm not sure what I'm feeling towards Jenna, even without this whole mandatory bonding thing. I'm starting not to like this.
