I found whatever appropriate sack or bag was available in my chambers.
I did love my father, somehow. But this time he had gone too far. Way too far.
So, did the only rational thing I could think of.
I'm running away
I understand that it may sound immature and irrational, running away from daddy but I feel like I have no choice. The man is trying to send his only daughter off to some gross-looking predator, just because he is so power-hungry.
It feels like I never mattered to him,
Which is why I know he won't miss me when I'm gone.
As for Keir, I love him, I truly do. He was the only thing that made this place bearable. But he betrayed me. He took my father's side over mine.
I knew deep down that Keir supported my father. For that, I can never forgive him. I still love him and a part of me believes that he loves me
I whipped open my armoire and grabbed a handful of random tunics, pants, undergarments, sweaters and everything I thought I would need to survive out in the wild.
I have to at least my father give credit for teaching me how to sail. That was his way of bonding with me as a child. My mother would force him to bring me on his boating trips, and I watched him show me every knot, tie and pull I could imagine. This was back when he wasn't such a dick.
Technically, it will be his fault that I make such a successful escape,
I chuckled inwardly as I threw the last of my shoes into my makeshift sack.
As I began to dress for the grand escape, I heard a small knock at my door
"Don't come in!" I yelled.
"It's me." I heard a deep voice mumble.
My head ached as I debated on whether to let Keir in.
My hand shook as I reached for the door handle.
Keir stood hunched looking embarrassed in front of me, his large figure taking up most of the door frame.
"What do you want." l asked harshly.
His gaze moved past me and onto my bed where my "luggage" lay."You're leaving aren't you? "He said not seeming too surprised.
"Yes." was all I could make out.
"Calenthe, he moaned.,
"Don't even think about talking me out of anything Keir. I've made up my mind. l cannot stay in this retched place anymore. "l huffed out.
" I know." was all he said.
"What do you mean you know?" I said angrily.
"I mean I can see now how this all affects you Calenthe, how it affects us." he confessed,
"If you knew this then why did you side with my father when he tried to sell me off to some pervert?" I demanded.
"Oh Calle, never in a million years would I ever want you taken away from me my beautiful girl." he cooed.
"Then why would you side with him?" I whispered.
"Because it was the safest answer, Calle. If I would've agreed with you, who knows what your father would've done.," he said shamefully.
I still think that Keir the great warrior was a coward for doing that to me. But he came back. He's sorry, ill get over it. Especially since this is goodbye.
"Keir I am leaving. For good." I announced.
"His eyes widened and his posture grew ridged.
He stood there for a minute, seemingly contemplating-
Suddenly he stormed by me, took hold of my extra sack and began shovelling his own clothes into it.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked.
"I can't be here without you Calenthe. I can't be without you." he stopped and turned to me.
My heart swelled as l embraced him slightly.
"You and me Sidero "I whispered.
His hold on me tightened briefly before he released me to finish packing up his stuff.
"Do you need anything else before we go?" l asked him.
"I'll need my weapons to keep us safe. We can circle around to the weaponry and head through the west gates," he suggested.
I laughed and pulled open the flap of the little backpack on my bed, revealing the scariest-looking killers I could get my hands on.
" I think I got us covered," I said laughing.
"Why do you have those" Keir said shocked.
"Why don't you?" I countered.
He rolled his eyes and took my hand. "Alright, big girl let's go."
I huffed and pulled him through the door forcing him to follow my lead.
His hand gave mine a hard squeeze as I basically dragged him through the dark halls.
We finally made it to the boarding dock off of the East Wing. I wondered why Keir would try and lead me to the West Wing but my thoughts left my mind as Keir started talking
"Do you even know how to use this thing?" he said as he kick the old sizeable ship with my name printed on the side. (Daddy's one and only gift to me.)
I turned to Keir and rolled my eyes. "Would I bring you here to my ship if I didn't know how to sail it?." I asked him.
He huffed out a breath of chilled air. "Whatever. Let's just get going before it gets too bad out there.
It struck me then that we would be sailing out of the castle, through "enemy" territory in the middle of a war.
I gulped but hopped onto the floating structure and winded up the sails as quickly and quietly as I could. The last thing I heard before pushing off the dock, was the screams of war waiting for us ahead,
