I was thoroughly embarrassed being carried through the village in the arms of this random gigantic man.

All eyes were on us, well me mostly.

Some of his friends dressed in the same gear as him gave us waves and excited shouts, almost like they were cheering us on.

This angered the man.

His grip on me tightened and I winced. I could feel the massive bruises being formed all over every surface of my body.

I groaned a little as he adjusted me in his arms, my displaced shoulder bumped against his chest and I felt like screaming.

His eyes met mine. I let a stray tear fall as I looked away from his confused gaze.

Although I don't know what he's so confused about, he's seen the state of my body.

The man, Kallen I think Helaina called him, climbed into a small hut deep in the forest of the island.

It was covered by trees almost invisible to the naked eye.

As he walked me in my gaze flew directly to Keir, sitting on a clean bed made of bamboo and cloth material.

A female sat by his bedside, a skinny stocky girl just a bit younger than the two of us. She was pretty.

My cheeks reddened. "Keir?" I whispered weakly.

His neck snapped to me and he was up in an instant.

"CALLE oh Calle I thought you were dead! I thought you were crushed by the boat. I thought you had drowned during the storm." he exclaimed wildly.

He ran up to me and tried to relieve me from Kallen.

He sent Keir a vicious growl. "The girl is hurt. She goes in the bed."

Keir back up robotically not wanting to challenge Kallen's command.

"Lilabeth help her." he grumbled.

"Who is to be in charge of the girl?" the younger girl asked softly.

"You are" kallen grumbled.  "Helaina's command"

He left quietly while Lilabeth moved to my side, pulling a few materials off the shelves with her.

"What happened to you Calle?" Keir asked morbidly as his eyes ran down my body.

I huffed out a breath.

"I tied myself to the boat." I cried out as a cool balm was rubbed onto my hot wounds.

"Why in gods name would you do that Calle?!" he burst out.

This man must think I'm dumb.

"The waves were crashing against the boat. I pulled you off but I sucked me back. If I hadn't of tied myself in, I would've be crushed by the boat or pulled under by the waves. I said numbly.

He cleared his throat as if not believing what I said could be real.

"I thought you were trying to cling to me, I was certain you drowned after I was pushed away from you. I searched everywhere for you Calle." he groaned out.

I screamed as Lilabeth set my shoulder back. I looked up to find her cold eyes on Keir as he looked back with a horrified expression.

I choose to ignore whatever was going on there.

"What happened to your face" he said softly.

I know he didn't mean to but I could see a pinch in his face as he looked at it. It repulsed him.

"The wire carved into me. mean I think, I'm not entirely sure. I passed out after about an hour of being knocked around" I replied honestly.

He looked unnerved.

"God Calle I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you." he murmured grabbing my hand.

"How long have you been here?" I asked.

 "2 days" he answered solemnly.

I said nothing.

Had I really been unconscious for that long?

I huffed out a breath, finally letting my body relax after so much stress.

Lilabeth spoke up "She'll need to be monitored here for the night but she should be good to go by the morning."

"Should I stay here with her?" he asked.

Do I want him to?

"We will have someone monitoring her through the night. The choice to stay is yours," she answered.

He turned to me.

"Calle, I'm gonna go get you some food yea?" he prompted.

"I'm not hungry," I answered.

It was the truth. All I really wanted to do was rest. Alone.

"Calenthe you really do need to eat, especially after being left to starve for 2 days." she said kindly with a bit of edge.

Keir took that as a hint to leave.

"Get her something light" she called out.

After Keir left, I turned to Lilabeth.

"Thank you" I whispered to her.

She didn't say anything. I kept going.

"You don't like him do you?" I wondered out loud.

She stopped what she was doing and turned to me.

"He lies" she whispered.

I felt like I should be defensive. Like I should put her in her place for talking about him like this.

I just listened.

"He didn't search for you. He washed up and spent his nights here in luxury eating our fine foods in the recovery room" she spat.

One look at my face and I could tell she regretted her words.

"I'm sorry Ms. Calenthe. I just couldn't forgive myself if I wasn't honest. Especially with a girl in your tortured state." she reached out and moved the hair from my face.

"Thank you for your honesty." I mumbled.

I could understand why he lied. He's embarrassed that he couldn't look for me while in his own recovery.

My head hurt too much to consider anything else.

I thanked Lilabeth for all her help again.

She gave me a tea to relax my muscles and eventually I fell unconscious again, this time to recover.
