We burst in through the doors, all eyes turned to us.
Ambrose dragged me by the hand up to the group.
He gave a menacing look to all the curious eyes and they looked away, continuing their chatter.
Kallen's eyes met our conjoint hands and Ambrose threw away my hand and wiped his on his shirt.
My stomach clenched but I dismissed it.
"What's wrong?" Durian said sternly, reading our faces.
Ambrose spoke first. "Keir stole the ship."
Everyone's eyes went wide.
"I don't know what he has planned, but he stole a bunch of supplies and took off. Most likely not long ago." I stated.
"How do you know it was him?" Lilatbeth asked.
The men's faces screwed up.
"It's him Durian confirmed.
"We should go somewhere more private" Ambrose chipped in.
I looked around and saw obvious stares around the room.
Durian silently led us out of the church and into the rain.
He led us through the mainland toward the south side of the island.
I had never been back here.
The hills cleared and patches of farmland that span for miles lay ahead.
I could make out different crops and large barns in the distance.
Durian took off onto a path through the forests lining the grasslands. We walked off into a small meadow where there were logs surrounding a fire pit and a few working tables taking up the space.
A wood structure covered the pit and logs where we took a seat sheltered from the rain.
"No one's out here in this weather." Durian said.
"If they were they wouldn't be able to hear us over the rain anyway" Kallen confirmed.
Ambrose took a seat beside me, slightly closer than everyone else was to me.
It took a lot not to lean into his warmth in the freezing weather.
I shivered and his jaw ticked.
"I'll make a fire" Ambrose mumbled to himself.
Durian gave him a look.
"Keir took a large load of weapons from the supply shed" I started.
Kallen's eyes studied mine.
"Do you think he has something planned?" Lilabeth asked.
All eyes went to me.
"I wouldn't be surprised. He can be-" I didn't finish.
Ambrose's fire grew bright and I leaned in closer to it, desperately needing warmth.
Durian and Kallen openly discussed anything Keir might do if he survived the trip back to Hyrath.
Ambrose leaned into me while everyone was distracted.
"Are you cold love?" he cooed.
His hand rubbed circles around my back teasing.
I squirmed away but he caught my waist and pulled me into the warmth of his sweater.
I let out a sigh at the contact.
