I spoke with Lilabeth for a while.

Keir had been hanging around Durian and the fighters, Ambrose amide their conversation.

Lilabeth opened up to me once Keir was gone. She seemed to be very sensitive to the men around the island.

I didn't pry.

I confided in her about what happened with Ambrose as she saw the marks on my arm.

"He did that?!" she asked alarmingly.

I sighed,

"No, Keir came back drunk. I guess he didn't realize his strength." I downplayed.

"Ambrose just decided to shame me for it. As if I didn't have enough going on" I explained.

Lilabeth nudged me with her shoulder. "Ambrose has always been void of any empathy. I don't know how but Helaina loves him and the men respect him. He has no respect for any of them, except for his younger brother Durian." she explained.

I stifled a gasp. Durian is his brother?!

I'm in deep shit now.

"I beat the shit out of Durian today." I admitted.

Lilabeth turned to me with a panicked expression. "You did what?!" she gasped.

I almost laughed at her shock. "We were sparring and I had just gotten back from being with Ambrose. If Durian mentions anything to Ambrose he'll kill me." I whispered.

I shivered at the gust of wind.

"I'm sure you be ok, besides how is Ambrose gonna find out it was you? I doubt Durian wants to confess that he got his ass handed to him by a girl. No offence" she said.

I could tell by her voice that she wasn't convinced, but just trying to calm me down.

I appreciated it.

"Durian's face is bruised and bloodied. I doubt Ambrose won't question it." I replied weakly.

We both sat in silence for a second. Contemplatively.

"If he tries anything I'll have your back." Lilabeth said confidently.

I smiled at her.

"Thank you Lilabeth, but how are you going to defend me against that giant." I motioned to Ambrose.

My arm stopped suddenly in its place as I saw a pair of black empty eyes staring back.

Fuck, he knows I'm talking about him.

I dropped my arm quickly and looked over to Lilabeth who looked terrified.

"Tell me he's not coming over here." I said staring at Lila.

"He's not" she mumbled terrified.

"Lila why are you white as a ghost?" I prompted.

"Because he's coming over here." she whimpered.

I started to shake.

"Lila! what the fuck?" I almost laughed.

"What you told me to tell you-" she was cut off as Ambrose stood in front of us.

His grimace was sharper than usual.

"Calenthe." he grumbled.

I looked up at him with innocent eyes.

His face twitched.

"A word?" he asked sharply.

My eyebrows drew together. "Whatever you want to say to me, you can say to Lila." her arm linked around mine in support.
